If you know anyone that works in the service department or have delt with them?
Long story short…I took my 2003 Murano for a problem i was having with it…here are the symptoms…its very sporadic.
After a long drive of like 1hr+ on the thurway and coming to a complete stop then giving it gas NO RESPONSE from throttle/transmission, NO MOVEMENT[except for the car crawling like you just let off the gas at idle], NO RPM, you have to hold the gas pedal literally to the floor for at least 1-2sec before the transmission engages and when it does it jolts/sprints forward.
After you turn the car off then instantly back on the problem goes away but it happens again eventually.
I go to pick up the car after i get a call from them telling me the car is done.
They advise me that there is no code in the TCM and ECM, I advise them taht this problem is sporadic and happens after a long drive [obvisouly they did not test drive it as the mileage when i got there and left there was only 1mile. anyways.
John Mancuso advise me that the mechanic noticed the engine slightly burning oil, causing the motor to misfire causing it to loose cylinder compression which might be the cause of this transmission problem [how in the fuck does a engine misfiring cause this transmission to no engage then fully engage when you give it full throttle, wouldnt a misfire throw a code? no code was found.
He advise me the car smelled like it was burning motor oil and he was 100% that the smell was motor oil burning, little did he know that the cvt transmission fluid was leaking on to the exhaust causing that smell. I know burning motor oil smelll from transmission fluid burning smell.
The only option was to tear down the motor and see what causing this motor to burn that oil, this will later cause the o2 sensor to go then your convertor to go…at this point im still confused on how does this pretain to my transmission problem.
He proceeded to tell me that i would need to fix this problem first before they can take a look at the transmission. I was baffled on that answer.
I asked to speak with his service manager and lonely behold he was right next to him Craig R JR, he advise me John is a “Master Techinican, he knows what hes talking about, go take it for a 2nd opinion”, i felt like saying how about you pay for my 2nd diagnostic at another dealer.
so needless to say i was $100 less in my pocket and i need a teardown of my engine because its causing my transmission to not engage…wow…
Anyone else work at a different Nissan Dealership i can take this car to.
