Anyplace locally do Ceramic coating?

exhaust wrap :nono:

anyway…

swaintech is the real deal. You won’t find a thicker ceramic coating anywhere and to remove it you literally have to grind it off. Most of the other places basically have thick paint.

I guess if you’re looking for the blingy color, send it wherever. If you want a thick durable coating that insulates go with swaintech.

im glad this thread poped up i was just doing some research on where to go

No exhaust wrap, I want my shit to look clean.

thats fine, i agree with you…

on my M3, it was covered by a heat shield… so i went with exhaust wrap and the silicone spray to seal it…

swain tech >jethot

I had a bad experience personally with the cheaper jet hot stuff and have heard nothing but great things about swain. I would go swain.

Looks like all they offer is white? :gotme: no thanks.

What is the cheaper jethot stuff?

Also a JetHot dealer and can send the stuff out for you. Just bring it over to the shop

On their website it says you can paint it with any high temp paint.

I guess you’re not as concerned about the functionality as you had once said.

yup, got me there!

Honestly? white? that will look great until the first time i…drive it. I am also not too keen on painting over it with a high temp rattle can, has anyone actually done this and had good results? The only time i have ever seen “high temp paint” hold up was high temp POR15 we put on my old headers before they were put on my friends Camaro. It was applied with a brush, it looked good as far as free long tubes go, but not something i would want to do on this.

The sterling that came on my set of Hooker Headers looked like death and was flaking off within a year of ownership.

painting on metal that gets significant heat is not easy. However, painting on top of the swaintech coating has advantages not only because some of the heat is insulated within the ceramic layer but also because its such a rough surface it holds the paint well. The stuff feels like 100 grit sand paper.

But then again I’m just defending a performance coating when in reality most people just want something colored. Does jethot do pink?

Edit: Don’t forget that ceramic IS white.

I would want Black or the polished look of the Jet Hot stirling. Turbols1ss has the jet hot extreme stirling on his Camaro turbo hot pipes, It was fine for the first year, until he installed the 2 step, which i would imagine increases temperatures significantly and would probably explain the “fading”. In no place is it flaking off. Also, the headers i just sold were coated by jet hot, no flaking or fading at all after 2 seasons. I made this post simply to get information on other options for coating, as i have not had to explore other options before. I dont want it colored, so the smart ass comments are not necessary.

My own experience with Jet-Hot was my '04 WRX.

Did extreme on a PDE up pipe. Looked like new after two winters.

Sterling on a turboxs stealthback. Also looked like new when I took it off after two winters.
