I live in an upper. With the hours I’m up and walking around and how creaky my floor is, I’d hate to live in the lower apartment. Yeah, it’s hot in the summer (I was coming home to a 94º apartment this year), but no big deal.
I live in a lower and have never lived in an upper, and I’ll tell you right now that upper>lower.
reasons:
you don’t have to mow a lawn in the upper
you get free exercise everytime you leave the house and when you come home.
you don’t have to deal with the assholes upstairs making noise
I own a double and live in the upper. I used to rent a double and lived in the lower and the footsteps above would sometimes bother me. I guess it wouldnt be bad unless you have alot of people living above you. The upper is definately much hotter in the summer, but you do have the benefit of the lower heat in the winter.
i dunno…i actually prefer living upstairs better…and we pay sooooo much less in the winter for heat, i love it. sucks in the summer though, our apartment was a sauna, lol.
Well its a double edged sword so to speak…you are either the one making the noise or dealing with the noise…I know 9c1 and Itagaki and I got in trouble a few times for the home theatre and general noise levels. It was sig. wamer in the winter and summer but got a good breeze too. It was nice living in the penthouse…but Moving was def. a PITA. I would rather not have anyone above me and deal with the rest. Thats why I moved into a 1 story house Noone above or below…and its just me
upper> lower. I had a lady living above me and she was LARGE so it was very noisy, and when she had custody of the kids they’d play race up and down the apartment, and that wasn’t fun at all.
The upper may be a little hotter… but just toss 100 bux at an AC unit… and about 30-40 for the electric for the few months it’s used.
i’d say lower… don’t have to carry yourself upstairs on those drunken nights… and when your carrying stuff in the house, it’s easier when your on the bottom.
