i knew this was bound to happen with the increase of mac users. meh oh well. my ibook will survive.
I don’t think it’s so much related to the operating system as much as it is exploits within 3rd party software that they can’t control.
Nobody writes viruses for mac because the user base is so small. Hence why they don’t need an av solution. It has nothing to do with a ‘well written OS’. Yes, there are probably a few out there but not enough to warrant an av solution. Viruses are written for Windows platforms because 90% of the computing world is on Windows.
I want to see Bill Gates hire some :snky: black hats and beat the shit out of OS X with viruses. Then Mac users can finally STFU and realize they’re not invisible. Probably be more effective dollar for dollar than advertising also.
NSA/CIA just did extensive testing on 10.5 and the DoD/Army is also running extensive testing on 10.5…
Mac users are better btw
… and?
Well the Army runs MacOSX for their webservers…and its one of the most targeted websites on the internet
DoD is also doing a Mac roll out at the pentagon…A lot of the higher ups really like iChat
I walked 10.5 Client/Server and XSan through a pretty intensive army security audit and it passed no problem…
lol
speaking of which, was reading about a new encryption technology they’ve been working on called quantum cryptology. Pretty cool stuff  But they can’t yet figure out how to send the signal long distances
wild stuff
God damn it. So my money is going to Steve Jobs?
:uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Actually your tax dollars went to a bunch of Macs sitting in a government warehouse
No more USB thumb drives for the government either
Actually your tax dollars went to a bunch of Macs sitting in a government warehouse
It’s sad that nobodyfinds that surprising lol …figures
Anything on the secure side of the DoD you wouldn’t be plugging a thumb drive into anyways…
“Look at the pretty packaging. It just works!”
mapples?
Actually it was more like the security guidelines for MacOS 10.5 are not released yet and we really need to get these Macs out of the warehouse how hard would it be to image all these with windows…
Bill Gates owns part of Apple
We are not invisible, but we are invincible, and more attractive!
Yes,
And Gates and Jobs dont hate eachother. They worked together on quite a few things.
And 10.5.x is a very well written OS. Not flawless, but better than any windows to date. Its just incompatible mainly due to it not having 90 something percent of the market.
I am intrested to see real market % for MacOS vs Windows vs Linux
