Pretty informal meeting tonight, so alot more BS was thrown around than real issues, but nevertheless:
Society status has been denied by the government on two stupid technicalities. I’m following up tomorrow to have them hopefully resolved without another waiting period.
Still need Namao’s info. Hopefully I’ll be following up on this tomorrow.
Talked about the RX-7 club and whether we can rent/buy some of their gear.
We need to start discussion on the upcoming BBQ, April 16. Forum thread has been started about it.
Need to start talking about Driven to Perform and prep for that. Issues include having a banner printed, which cars will attend, features of the booth, etc.
NECC Video - there is one currently underway that should be finished in time for DTP, with additional filming to take place from here on out, hopefully culminating in more vids.
NECC Shirts - we need to get the ball rolling on the production of the shirts. If enough people can pre-pay, we don’t have to wait for society status to be granted to have them produced. If we wait until the society has been formed, we can offer paypal payment to members wanting one.
That’s about it. Anyone at the meeting that wants to chime in on any of this stuff, go right ahead.
Well it seems the RX7 club is going to give their club one last shot this summer, so they won’t be selling their cones and shit any time soon. They were paying about $6 each for them though.
I’m not sure what you mean by “Society Status” but you know that you should be trying to register the NECC as a “Non-Profit Organization”, right? Are we talking about the exact same thing here?
Actually, no. We’re applying to be a for profit society. Non-profits have to deal with a lot of government scrutiny.
The way to think about societies is like a corporation, but with members instead of shareholders. The reason we’re applying for society status is so we can have an NECC dedicated bank account that is not personally linked to anyone in the club. It’s also much easier to get insurance, and if anything catastrophic happens, the club becomes responsible as a whole rather than all the members being held liable for anything.
My dad will be hopefully talking to some guy from the city department of transportation to see what price he can get cones at. Husky oil of edmonton orders all there cones through this guy so we might get a deal.
ps. my dad works for Husky oil, so ya can piece it together a bit better
I’ll round up all the teenage boys that surround my car at parking lots and we can line them up on the course, I’ll need some help of course from the nissan pathfinder and truck to transport them all and a few guys with clubs :hit that can jump in after i distract them with a few engine rev’s
And I bet we can use the ford focus’ and neons that follow me around as barriers on some of the corners :devil
