AR-15. Gun ppl come here

I’m looking to buy an AR-15. There are a bunch of companies that make em, and If I’m spending $1000 I want the highest quality one I can buy.

  1. What are some good budget AR-15’s to buy?
  2. What’s the shortest possible upper you can legally run?

I want a 10.5" carbine, although if that’s not possible I’ll settle for something a little longer.

THX!

The overall barrel length has to be 16" to be legal. I have a Bushmaster M4A3 carbine and I am happy with it. Build quality seems legit. I have never had a problem with it after thousands of rounds down range.

Dpms is a good brand. Don’t buy from the gun center though!! You’ll pay out the ass.

Try calling the niagara gun range when you decide what you want. They will find you what you want for a fair price…

Colt!

Remington isn’t bad either.

Personally I’d say screw the ar15. I personally don’t care for them. They’re for pretty boys. .223 is a cool round and all, but it’s not that exciting to shoot.

Personally I’d look at an ar10. .308 is a way beefier round, and in my opinion more fun to shoot. You can pick up a dpms lr-308 for right around $1000

:word: I have to agree for the extra bucks it’ll cost it’s much more worth it.

If i didn’t have the AK already I’d be going that route.

.308 is rugged. I’m purchasing a rem 700 this week in .308

where from? Price? details on said rifle. I’m looking at one of these or a savage right now

Dude I know has his ffl and tracks my shit down. Take a look at dicks though. My buddy picked up a 700 in .223 there for something stupid like $460.

Edit: from what I’ve been told, the savage is more accurate out of the box (.5 moa) but you can do a lot with the 700. Just putting a different stock and free floating the barrel can ge you <.5 moa. Also optics are obviously a big deal. Check this out. I’ve read some awesome reviews on it. It obviouy isn’t a leupold, but for the money it’s killer

managed to keep my scope from my first tour I’m good in that department.

go Savage. been to a few competitive shoots, and the old men always say nothing shoots better out of the box than a Savage, even a cheap one. might not be as glamorous as the big money Rem’s and Win’s, but they work solid for what they are.

go to gunbroker.com and ship it to a FFL…

I was forwarded a guy with his ffl that will only charge ~$20 bones or so and is cool as hell from zerodaze… if you need his info drop me a PM.

I purchased a handgun for my dad on gunbroker paid for it and shipped it to the ny FFL. My dad picked it up with zero issues.

Word to gunbroker!! The second I get my pistol permit I’m gonna troll the shit out of that site. I want the first gun on my permit to be a mac10

LoL my first was a ruger single six. Nothing too crazy, followed by a Python and hopefully soon to be a glock 26 for a new carry.

My buddy and myself will be getting our permits at roughly the same time. We already have an order for 12 handguns ready to go lol

I have an Colt M4 and it is awesome. Most AR-15’s are pretty good quality but I would stick with Colt, Bushmaster, Rock River or DPMS.

Pretty sure this would qual as all that is man, dawg

I have a friend over at Lackland and is a CATM instructor(Combat Arms Training) and he builds these off the side. Shoot me your number or email and ill forward it to him. I was about to buy his but his wife was none too happy bout it… So im waiting for him to build me one.

Probably one of the most knowledgeable guys around doing it… Well in San Antonio that is

I am an owner of a firearms business, If you have an idea of what you want shoot me a PM and I can get you some prices.

You really can not go wrong with any of the big names such as DPMS, Rock river(seems to be the hot ticket recently), spikes, S&W, YHM, Bushmaster, and many more.

If you are looking for a little less expensive and still a very nice gun you can also see STAG.

Personally I own a DPMS, and I think a spikes is next on my list.

We should be able to beat or match any internet pricing you find.

Eh the rem 700 is ok. Honestly, I would go for a savage. They arent the prettiest, but god they are well built and accurate as fuck!
