AR15 Guys... step on in pls.

I built mine for around 800 said and done, I could have knocked the price down if I would have ordered and waited for some parts, but I bought stuff off the shelf.
I’m 20’’ bull barrel 1:8 twist.
I’m sub MOA @ 150 yards with decent ammo
With 75gr boat tail I can puncture holes in propane tanks @ 200-225 yards. The 55gr chepo stuff will only dent it.
I’ve touched 300 yards on paper but I haven’t learnd the wind yet.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t4/87conquestTSi/313717_10150305587348150_503948149_7709932_1290905325_n.jpg

I got a DPMS locally from a guy off main st, built for $550. Brand new, I just needed something cheap and for zombies.

CRAP. now i think i’m going to build one  lol

I’ll have to find a good forum to read up on it.

I guess it all depends on you are going to use the gun for.

If you go that route quite frankly I would tell you to copy the majority of my build list that I posted. I’m sure Brad would agree. With the carbon float tube my gun weighs a little over 7 lbs with a fully loaded preban mag. Can’t remember if it was a 20/30 round one that we used when weighing it.

I’ve had good luck with spikes tactical and have nothing but good things to say about the quality or their customer service.
You could put something together with the links below and have a decent starter gun for 7ish plus what ever stock/sights/ and magazines you want to get. A bunch of places are still having good sales this time of year so shopping around would definitely be worth it.

I would much rather build one. I might change mine up a bit. As I want to build an AR-10

If you build one and use QUALITY parts you will end up spending more than an off the shelf gun. Though you will end up with exactly what you want…

I did a good amount, but nothing too in detail. It was a good buy and got great reviews for the non sticklers. I figure it’s my first gun, I will have my qualms with it, and when I build another one, I’ll be a little different.

On top of that, I’m already looking to just get an asston of guns - I want to get a 308, maybe a 7mm, definitely a 30-30, and eventually an M1 Garand.

This is your first rodeo, I wouldn’t go too crazy with every little thing. Get something, and you can see what you like and don’t like, and go from there.

Experience has taught me the exact same. To add to that … you’ll also be happy at the end of it all.
For everyone offering mil-spec and nothing backing it up I’ve seen a lot of junk. Most of it is all still serviceable to the guy who shoots once a year. But anyone who puts a decent amount of rounds down range will tell you about the differences. Anyone who builds knows the differences in the material and tolerance quality. I’ve since jumped on the name brand band wagon as the one AR is all colt and my other is bushmaster with a down side of preban cast DPMS lower :frowning:

i love my rock river. more on this later lol…

http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/ar-talk/160873-want-build-quality-ar-around-1000-a.html is this good advice? I want to get started on this yesterday! lol

Its fun searching the floor when on of those little brass things goes flying. :fuuu:
Looks pretty legit, you can always shop arms list for used deals or check gun shows.

I like this advice, go simple and upgrade as you decide you want/need. Being out of NY you don’t have to deal with picking a forend and brake and being stuck with it.

I’ve got a second lower and am slowly(very slowly, lol) building a second one.

Remington R15 I bought a couple years ago. Paid too much but I had the itch after I traded my Bushmaster back in. 40x scope with illuminated reticle, fluted blacked out barrel. No problems with any make of ammo jamming. Fairly accurate.

i own a bushmaster mx-15 and love every min of it. in the past year i have shot about 2000 rounds throught it with a total of 2 jams. and im sure its from a lack of cleaning after shooting 500 rounds of steel ammo. only thing i wish is that my carry handle wasnt part of my upper… id say make sure to get a flat top. thats my only advice. also stay with the big names like Freek said

I’ll sell you my upper.

i now id need to buy a lower as well… NBD

I just really want to find a kit that has the mid length rail on it.

Is it me or is this a stupid cheap deal?

To bad you can’t have it in NY

+1

There are a couple things about that gun which aren’t NYS legal I think.
