Just curious if anybody on here that works for a GM dealership knows anything about recalls or these wheel bearings going early on these cars. A friend has a 2007 on lease and it has under 34K miles…NO wheel bearing should go that soon, but listening to the car/riding my bike along side it…definitely sounds like a wheel bearing.
If not a wheel bearing, are there any known manufacturer defects that might cause similar symptopms/sounds?
Ummmmmmm Idiot…Wheels bearings can go super fast if the vehicle is out of alignment.
There is no recall for them, but yes they do go prematurely. I have done multiple ones in six months. I would say for a while my shop was doing 2 a week atleast.
i have an 05 and mine has been replaced 2 times, 56k on it.
warranty for me tho.
They can and do go that early. I had both front replaced on my A4 at 28,000 miles, and I replace them all the time at that mileage on '05 - '08 Legacys at work. The front bearings were going on my P5 too before it was wrecked. Some cars have weak bearings, looks like that’s one of them.
Fuck sound. Grab the top of the tire and yank it back and forth. If you feel clunk clunk as you yank it back and forth you’ve got play in the bearing.
Yea exactly right. Once you have found the result of that test, you can go from there.
