Wondering if anyone has any long term experience with these and if they’re worth the $$?
I’m seriously considering one for my new truck, but want to see others opinions/thoughts before I drop $500-$600 to have it done. (The 3M VentureShield)

I had one factory installed on the R.
IMO, yes. No rock chips.

Actually, it’s probably not worth it on a Silverado. A large portion of it isn’t painted and mostly grill. Not to mention, you’re a lot higher up than most vehicles that experience chips.
Mine has the paint matched front end, not the massive chrome monster.
had some on my Vette around the brake ducts where they chip up, worked great, barely noticable, worth it IMHO
Worth it.
i would do at minimum the center metal section that is painted. im gonna be doing mine
Hmmm…I didn’t think of that.
I want to try the spray stuff… anybody used this?
Damnit, I came here hoping to see clear bras on women as the next new craze. Oh well…
Glad I’m not the only one.
High five for boobs
On a related note I looked at a friend’s '13 WRX, there were clear protective sections in certain areas (front end, fore/aft of wheel wells, etc). He had already had a few big rock chips but the clear plastic absorbed it pretty well. It would be great to run that stuff for a couple of years, have it replaced, and have the car look brand new again.
I have the clear 3M on the front of the bimmer. Only noticeable line is on the hood about 6" up if you are looking for it where it ends up other than that, I think it is great. Much rather not take a stone to chip my paint.
conquest justin at northtown lexus installs these professionally. His work is outstanding! I highly recommend speaking with him about it. I don’t remember his username on here
^ my dad has a new ES350 that has the clear bra and it’s hardly noticeable and is worth if, but it depends on the installer to. We had an old LX470 with the clear bra and after 7 years it was pretty beat so we just removed it and had perfect paint underneath.
Got it done yesterday, used the SunTek product; too many bad things about the 3m/Ventureshield stuff lately. The shop I got it done at is the one who does the high-end stuff out here (There was 2 newer Porsche’s, a C6 Vette, and a Viper at the shop getting work done) so I’m going to trust his opinion on quality materials; not to mention it lined up with my research.
Turned out great, can’t even tell it’s there except for the line on the hood from the edge, and even that’s only visible if you’re looking for it. $565 out the door; I can’t complain.
Looking to have the same done on my new speed 3, what shop did you have it done at FormulaWS-6? Does anyone have any local buffalo installers they could recommend?
thanks!
He had it done in Utah.
I think Swerve can do it…?
Ah, hence the “land of Mormons” lol…i just start to assume everyone here is from buffalo. =)
No go on swerve unfortunately, I gave them a buzz and their bra guy hasn’t worked there in a few years. The hunt continues…
Yea, I’m out in UT… at least for another 9.5 months…
