BED already tried playing the definition card… the key is, this is a subjective question based on your interpretation of what a sport is. There was no real right answer…
I just wanted to know what you guys thought. What kind of answer do you think I expected to get on an automotive forum full of mostly nerds :mamoru:.
No, you seem to THINK it is up to interpretation. The word sport is a defined noun, adjective and verb. If motorsports, or a specific type of motorsport falls in line with the definition of a sport, then it is in fact a sport.
That goes for any activity which you think might be classified as a sport.
Ahahahaha way to take it too far faggot… You want to hop on the moboost4 h8 wagon there are easier ways, get some pointers from LZ or ILC.
You dint read the thread, tried debating topics already brought up and were established and then either got too confused or lazy to persist so used " Waaahh, If the dictionary says its true it must be true" cop out. YES based on that dictionary I guess motorsports are literally a sport. But also based on that definition, everything in life must be a sport since its “usually” involving competition and is a physical act. Wait, you mean poker is a sport because you have to hold your cards and push chips forward and the game “tag” is a sport too?
Suck a dick along with everyone who was an “expert debater” in the flight tragedy thread you baby.
Haha, no, arguing usually implies anger. I hoped it never got to that point but some people dont know how to debate a generally SUBJECTIVE topic. Not that im angry, just disappointed with the human race.
Plus people like to ride my overall hated staus on this site as winning card in any debate.
I feel motorsports are perfectly named. They are just that, motor-sports, kind of like a sub category of sports.
The “extreme sports” phase helped acclimate a lot of those sports to the mainstream, and I feel now many people look at skateboarding and inline skating as just simply “sports.” I just dont think racing will ever earn its spot in the public’s head as a “sport,” but more so will just remain a competition. But hey, what do I know.
Also dont look up sport in a dictionary, because when we get literal, bad things happen.
This thread is pointless. What is a “sport” is subject to the literal definition of the word as a verb, adjective and noun. An activity is a sport if it meets the criteria of that definition. If you decide to ignore that, then there is no such thing as a sport. The qualities and factors of every activity could be argued ad nauseum. People expressing opinions at each other with no quantifiable means of reaching a conclusion (i.e., an accepted literal definition) is an exercise in futility.
That being said, yes, it is a sport. You cannot completely eliminate the nonhuman factor from any form of sport. Equipment, weather, luck, training, and happenstance are factors in them all.
Not providing nudes of sister.
Seriously though, if one person calls you a horse’s ass, he’s probably one himself. If everyone calls you a horse’s ass, go buy yourself a saddle.
Come take the KTM a spin around the supermoto track, or area 51.
agree with fry. not going to brag just an example Im 100% stock racing modded 450s and i was running 3rd. the guy in front of me was on a DRZ. Takes skill to put a bike in its place and know what to do when its out of its place. Jumping, landing sticking to your lines, finding time to pass and passing lines ect
You have to think on the global scale here. Motorsports are in the public spot light everywhere else in the world and are considered “sports”. We just happen to be tainted by Nascar and the general population in the US know Nascar as the only form of motorsport so anything ralated is unfortunately discredited by the public. Luckily other forms of motorsport are gaining popularity, eg: MotoGP
