Are we ready for an electric bike? 2012 Zero DS

Here are the specs

http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-ds/specs.php

With the city range of 75 to 112 miles depending on the model it could be reasonable.

price is set ~$10 for a new one, but keep in mind it’s also partially tax deducible.

Only thing that doesn’t strike me fancy is it’s top speed ~80mph.

Bikes get good mileage to begin with, would be hard to justify such an expense for just daily commuting savings.

Discuss.

zero had a big dispay at the javitts show in NYC. pretty cool lookin bikes. I dig electric bikes from an engineering standpoint. lots of effort goes into making them efficient

The federal tax credit is 10% of the cost for that bike.

I’m working on a design study at school to make one run on a hydrogen fuel cell.

very cool! i wonder what the service life on the batteries is and the cost of raplacing them. this could really be the future of commuter travel.

that’s awesome! good luck
