AT&T dumps unlimited data plans

once you see what android can do and what you can do with it you will quickly get over the iphone

I stream Z100 from NYC to my ihearradio app when I am in my car. Between emails and browsing the web for stuff when I travel, it run about 2-3GB of data a month. If I am out of town that month I will hit 5-6 GB without tethering.

What upsets me is the fact that they’re charging an extra $20 for how you use your data, not how much. The $25 a month gets you 2GB of data. for an extra $20, you get to tether…but you don’t get any more data. You still only get 2GB to use before overage charges, you now just have the PRIVILEGE of choosing how you hit that cap.

Data is Data. It shouldn’t matter if it’s voice, text, internet via phone, or tethering. Charging for HOW you use your data is ridiculous.

lol thats crappy for all of the people using iphones…sorry for you guys

i use more than 2GB every month on my android phone, and thats with no tethering and torrents…

thats all exchange/gmail/pandora/websurfing when i’m not at home…its not hard to hit 2gb lol

It does help the masses. I thought I saw a document from ATT that said like:

$15 for 2GB
$20 for 3GB
$25 for 4GB
$30 for 5GB
$35 for 6GB

or something like that so if you are a heavy user, you just have to pay. If you are a light user, your data bill is cut in half which they said will help about 70% or something of users. All I know is I will still have unlimited so I don’t care

:word:

I think it falls under the cardinal rule I have of Don’t be a dick and that is a dick move.

Meh I have used my Mom’s Iris and Dad’s Moto Droid quite extensively and neither left me really warm and fuzzy, but I am keeping a open mind.[COLOR=“Silver”]

I have the iPhone for work and the Droid for personal use. I definitely prefer my droid. There are a few things the iphone has like a better facebook app, and better music player. But all in all I think Android is a better system, and with 2.2 coming out, it’s going to teabag OS 4.0.

oh wow i guess i missed that part, that is truly stupid. i dont tether or anything but if i did then i surly would be ditching because of that

The iphone is a premium product at a premium price point. It is the BMW of cell phones.

Most people I know who have one don’t give a shit how much the bill is.

If you want a decent phone that is cheap with data then look at a boost mobile blackberry plan for 60 per month.

Myself, I’m rocking a LG 3g phone with a sprint sero account for $26 per month after taxes, unlimited 3g on a shit phone.

+1

I’m grandfathered in for $10/month unlimited data with the smartphone exception. I’ll change it as soon as I change my $39.99 1000 rollover min, unlimited M2M and N&W plan which I tether with when i feel the need.

Anyone who doesn’t think VZW is going to do the same thing is retarded. What are people going to do, get T-mobile? That’s like voting 3rd party. As long as both sides in a two man race screw the consumer, everyone loses.

what do you guys use to tether your iphones?
I was thinking about it to use on a laptop at work on break/lunches instead of those expensive ass internet card things… but meh.

P.S.
I’m at 1.9GB usage since Nov 08

Love my SERO account…

I heard they were getting super fussy with which new phones you could use SERO with now though…and its not like a GSM network when you can just get your own unlocked phone…

LOL @ iphone being bmw of cell phones.

My friend’s battle with AT&T went national:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/BUSINESS/06/03/new.york.phone.company.apology/index.html?hpt=Sbin

CNN called him this morning wanting to send someone over to put him on CNN American Morning but he turned it down.

lol

Galante said he received a personal phone call from a senior vice president at the company. He said the executive was “extremely apologetic” and asked whether there was anything she could do to keep him as a customer. No such luck for AT&T, as Galante is switching to Sprint’s new HTC Evo phone immediately.

WGRZ just got a hold of him and they’re going to do a phone interview at 11:30. We were just laughing this morning about how channel 2 always tries to get a local angle on every national story, even if that angle is 4 ways removed from the story, but they hadn’t picked up on this yet.

Its kind of true…certainly for this area…BMW is the car people with a moderate amount of money get just because they see others with it and ‘think’ its the best thing for their money. While it has good features, its not the best. Enter the iPhone.

The iPhone’s more like the Scion tC of cell phones: Decent piece, though nothing special about it, yet a lot of owners think it’s somehow unique and special and outperforms damn near everything else out there.
