saw this on my FB feed, thought i would share.
Bunch of money, especially considering the miles
Thanks Bing, seems like a really well kept car…I hate the black wheels and blackout of the middle of the front bumper…but there are enough nice things done on the car…
Re. the price, Esprits are finally starting to take a slight upturn in value…long overdue if you ask me, I’ll never understand how they have been valued so low for so long…an '89-'93 Esprit SE is a great performing supercar for it’s time, far better than many of its contemporaries of the day, yet many of those cars have kept good value…
Time will tell, but I am thinking the 30K price point for an Esprit like this will one day make this car look like a bargain…
remember - those are kms, and thats CAD…
thats 53k mi & $22k
still more than id pay for it…but less shocking
I don’t think these will ever really go up… cool cars, but a lot of downsides and you have to fix them by luck or you’ll never enjoy driving them for more than a few mins. Of the 4-5 people I know who have owned them only Joe has owned one for more than about a year. All the others put thousands in for nothing.
I think I can safely speak for these cars, and this is not really true…they actually are pretty reliable, and only need routine maintenance to keep them going strong…
My Elise was probably the most reliable car I’ve ever owned.
was also a newer toyota 4cyl…not a 25 year old esprit
I think you might be over simplifying how often the engine needs to come out etc…
My motor has been out once in 10 years, and the only reason is bec. I had just gotten the car and chose to pull it and have a very thorough look at the engine/chassis and pull the fuel tanks to have them coated with hippo-liner. Totally my choice. The fuel tanks, if they ever needed to come out (2 tanks, one on each side of the engine), are about the only job where it makes sense to pull the engine…
We (myself and the tech at Lotus WNY) just did a major service on my Esprit this past week (timing belt, all accessory belts, and coolant drains for both the engine and chargecooler systems, both flushed 2 times, and finally a re-fill) with the engine in place. It was a one day (6-8 hours) job…this job, which involved checking a # of other little things is called a “C” service, and is recommended every 5 years or so…everything in between is basically just oil/fluid changes…
I understand they aren’t Civics, but they are not as bad as they are made out to be, and nowhere even close as bad as the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s of the time…
And just so we are clear, I am not trying to argue, just presenting real world truth and experience so folks better understand…
Hey Joe,
I like this. (its even silver ) What’s it worth?
LSx SWAP
lol. The interior of these cars is so distinctively 80’s, it’s great.
