So I was trying to sell a friend’s car for her. She included a link to her website with extra pictures of the vehicle. AutoTrader calls today and says no, they can’t do that, that’s a dealer-only option. Friend wants to cancel her ad. AutoTrader says “sure, we’ll give you credit”. Friend says “no, I don’t need no fecking credit, I’m not using your service again, you’re jerking me around.”" AutoTrader refuses refund. AutoTrader receives notification from MasterCard that payment has been stopped. AutoTrader calls to say they’re filing a credit complaint for non-payment of service. AutoTrader is consequently informed that service was cancelled.
I know. And they don’t say anywhere that “no web links are allowed” or anything like that. She doesn’t want to agree to those terms and I don’t think she should have to settle for anything less than a refund, especially since she doesn’t intend to use AutoTrader in the future. So, MasterCard to save the day.
same thing happened to me when I posted a website link… Trader called me and told me they’d change my ad to read:
“… email for more pictures and info”
I think you’re friend might be over-reacting a bit… it’s not hard to reply to ppl’s emails with a website link. I got tons of emails for my car through Trader. :dunno:
Not my call, I’m not the one selling the car. She’s just mostly ticked that her ad would look so crappy compared to dealer ads.
Still, she does have the right to a refund IMO. The ad isn’t posted and she doesn’t want to deal with them in the future, so giving her “credit” does her no good.
