First off gt28 or gt35? There’s a $400 price difference. Second how much boost and power can i safely make on an LS block with block guards (remember it’s my dd). How much more power N/A can I make off the stock motor if i add a turbo cam, port and polish, pistons and rings, eagle rods, and valves and retainers (no turbo)? If my pistons are 8.4:1, how much more boost can i push? Finally if i do all the head work and the turbo, how much power am i looking at safely producing? Budget-wise for next summer it’s either going to be (1) port and polish, new head gasket, block guards, arp studs, and one of those turbos or (2) All the motor work with sleeves but no turbo until the year after. Thanks everybody!:stupid:
This is approximately what I’m into…
'92 Civic CX hb ~$1000
B18C1 Swap $2200
Sleeves $800
GT3582R $1000
Cams, $300
pistons, rods, $700
ARP fasteners ~$200
Bearings ~$100
Head re-work $500 (no porting/polishing)
I/C $200
Piping $300
BOV $100
WG $200
DP $200
Mani $800
Gasket $50
880cc injectors $225
ACT 6-puck $400
Axles (I use stock, but have a stockpile), ~$300 worth of spare axles, JIC.
Rota’s + used BFG DR’s about $500
Trans is next…probably hardened gears, CF synchros and quaife LSD for another $1000.
I’m guessing it’ll be close to $10K total investment including shell, B18C1 complete swap, sleeves, and a GT3582R + all the other shit & tune.
Don’t go cheap if you boost and DD. If you DD, I strongly recommend staying N/A and going with 12.0:1 pistons, and doing ECU chip+tune with sleeves, rings, bearings, rods, valves, springs, retainers, injectors, manifolds, CAI etc.
