Back Packs for riding, what do you use?

Im looking at Back Packs for riding this season, because i just purchased a 2005 kawi zx6r and unlike my 02 zx6r the 05 doesnt have anywhere to put my proof of insurance and registration. so i figured i should get a nice looking back pack or phanny pack or somthing for riding. what do you all use? i want somthing on the smaller side that is comfortable and holds quite a bit. Any suggestions would be great.

I have been looking and saw the “hard” back packs they sell on sport bike sites. any one know how comfortable they are? they seem like they were designed for aerodynamics or somthing…

thanks again!

thoughts?

On your 05 you can put the insurance stuff right under your cowl unless of course its all a one piece. I bought an icon backpack and loved it.

mine has an exhaust going through my cowl… so unless i buy some fire proof packaging thats a no go. ill check out icons site

For reg/ins I just put it in an envelope and stick it in my wallet, I always ride with my wallet/license so I always have my reg/ins

As for packs, you can spend tons of money on a “motorcycle” one, but honestly I just use one of the two strap bookbags with a locking band that goes around the waist so when you turn the weight isn’t thrown around. $45 bookbag > $300 “pack”

^^agreed

I use a $45 Dakine backpack with the 2 straps. It works great and it’s a quality pack.

jansport… from 3rd grade

and a laptop bag when im commuting to work… sometimes a gym bag on my tank too.

my cbr has the same type of exhaust and i can still put all my stuff in there, granted not much room at all i can usually fit my insurance and reg, pretty sure you would be okay if it is the same type of set up

x2

I had an '06 636 with the undertail and there should be plenty of room for those documents under the rear seat.

ill take a pic of my undertail next time im near it, its at my g/fs moms garage… and you can see cause it seems unsafe to me…

This. I got a backpack from walmart for about 20 dollars (i think, around that). Just a normal backpack with the strap that buckles around your chest. After getting caught out in the rain on a few long rides, I sprayed it with that waterproofing stuff used on tents and stuff… water just beads off of it even at speed. It’s lasted the 2 previous seasons but it looks as though the chest buckle is broken now, so I’ll have to go throw down another 20 bucks i suppose haha.

edit:
I just saw the link in the OP, that isn’t bad and is decently priced, i say go for it if you’re not all about walmart haha

They have the passenger seat above the exhaust , im sure you would be fine stuffing it in there

my shitty jansport one ive used since i was 8

Dont buy those hard okastic packs unless you wanna look like Jonny Tran. I just use a regular school backpack. Works fine.

i just used a burton bag, had a chest strap and a waist strap which was nice. anything will work. make sure you have a steering damper on there!

… on second thought just go with the fanny pack idea you originally mentioned… LOL

x2 on the damper… the 636 is a phenomenal bike in the corners, but it truly benefits drastically from a damper. My bike got squirly on me way too much.

People always frown at me when I put my infant son in my back pack and ride to tops. Strange. I zip it up… And I make sure I put snacks in there… People these days! Just get a pack that can fit your kid and a couple beers.

so here is under my passenger seat… a couple of you said put it in here… but this awesome cell phone pic clearly shows that the exhaust runs through there… now i know you said it will be fine and all but i dont think i trust it at all… paper and hot exhaust = potential fire or really hot insurance… idk

edit: probably just gonna stick with the simple backpacks mentioned above and stick insurance/reg in my jacket pocket.

?? Is that the exhaust OUTLET? Do you have a custom exhaust or undertail?

This is the one I have. Its a backpack and a tank bag.
