Backpack

Well i just picked up an 01 zx6r and i wanted to get a backpack so i can ride it to work and put my lunch, etc in it. Any recommendations? Also is there another good place that sells gear in the northtowns? I dont feel like going all the way to berts in hamburg if theres something just as good closer to me. Thanks.

I use a burton backpack that i got from purchasing a board awhile ago…its really comfy lots of straps and pockets and the shoulder straps as well as a horizontal chest strap keep the pack from shifting around…And as for gear just order online i would never go to burts…that place is such a rip off and has horrible customer service in my opinion…and there gear selection is not that great as well…

o i know i planned on ordering online but i just wanted to try a bunch of different brands and sizes on. The bike came with gear but im thinking of upgrading to something nicer in the spring.

yea…just go some where see what you like then order online…or maybe even used you can find some pretty nice stuff on some of the bike forums…alot of guys race and are always getting rid of stuff…try 600rr.net always some nice stuff…

just get a backpack that is tight fitting. you don’t want anything loose.

as for bert’s. i waited too long to buy my shit and wanted the instant gratification. i bought my stuff there on the spot because it was on my way home from registering the bike and i wanted to go from there to riding the bike.

i’ve made a few purchases there and i’ve had nothing but great experiences.

as for pricing, it was more expensive than what you pay for brand new stuff from reputable places online. you can save a bit by shopping online, but it wasn’t enough to make it worth waiting for me.

you can save a lot of money if you buy used, but i wouldn’t buy used gear.

I had the same dilemma when I purchased my bike, my old one was shot and I wanted something tight fitting and not too bulky. After some research, I went with the DAKINE HELI PACK 11L. It fits very slim but still holds a lot of shit. It also has both chest and waist straps to keep it in place while riding. I couldn’t be happier with it.

edit: burton packs (ie:12L daypack) are also great bags

…it works just fine, even in rain the stuff inside stayed pretty dry

If you wanna spend the money Icon makes some really nice bags. Check them out.

i have one from walmart too… haha… it cost about 15 dollars, is all black, not bulky, plenty of storage, buckled chest strap, and rain runs right off of it.

I’m not sure sure how durable it is though, maybe you get what you pay for…:gotme:
I guess what i’m saying is that if i DID wreck and slide down the road on it, i would be strongly concerned about the safety of my ham sandwich.
:ohnoes:

I always just rode in my GAP one strap backpack.

problem solved. went to pacsun and they got just the stuff im looking for. All the diffrent pouches i wanted along with the durability and chest strap and a hell of alot cheaper than the motorcycle stores.

f@cking word. it’s a backpack. don’t over think it. it’s a canvas bag, it holds stuff, it has straps. if you want to go buy a “motorcycle specific” (whatever the hell that means) backpack, have at it dude.

i have this exact bag (dyingtolive gave it to me after buying a second one lol) and use an eddie bauer backpack and i have never had a problem.

well i went to walmart, target etc. and none of them had the strap across the chest and were all pretty small. i wanted something for my laptop and enough to fit a day or 2 worth of clothes.

haha i thought i was the only faggot who did that!

It sucks when you’re doin 120+ and its flappin in the wind :frowning:
