Is it real SS or the plastic panels?
i just threw up in my mouth, could of picked a different color
i have to ask, what makes you like it?
I mean, you are the one who has to live with it, so it doesnt really matter what we think.
I really am curious though.
.
is your kitchen on wheels?
i personaly love the sanitary look that stainless gives off and i think this probably adds to the effect. A clean kitchen is a great kitchen. Im not sure if i would do the same thing considering i ripped my old backsplash off and just drywalled it. But if your into the whole clean sanitary look then SS is a good way to go. just my $ .02 worth.
all the haters need to post up there backsplashes. well, those that dont still live at home with mommy and daddy that is.
Its different
I guess if i didn’t care what Nyspeed thought, I would not have posted pics.
If I want a back splash the Nyspeed wanted rather then what I wanted, I would have posted a poll of several choices and would have hung a back splash that got the highest % feed back
and unfortunately if you want the truth, this is what everybody is thinking.
I think it’s unfortunate, it lets down the rest of your hard work.
here is my budget remodel that i did in my kitchen. had some old ass powder clue fermica that had a nice yellow tint to it, and a off-white floral backsplash with a similar yellow tint from age.
before:
after:
some granite tial from lowes, with a flat black granite sink. then i made some oak trim outta chair molding and stained it to match the cherry oak cabinets. I took leftover granite tiles and cut em down for a backsplash. i think i spent like a total of like $4-500 on the remodel of the kitchen sink area. oh, and dont even get me started on the price of friggin cabinet door knobs. lol i just dont get it.
oh ,and a matching island/bar kinda thing i made that overlooks the majority of the house from the kitchen. I used matching 15x15 granite for this thing.
I don’t like it at all. The texture and finish doesn’t match the appliances at all. It may be the photo (but I doubt it). In general SS (or even tin) back splashes look horrid if you have SS appliances. It makes it look like a cheap diner that is trying too hard.
If you had white cabinets/counter tops, the tin can make it pop nicely. Same goes for other options.
I’d guess you probably went this route because it was cheap and easy?
Lots of other options would have worked better, small glass tile, mid size ceramics, larger stone tiles. It just doesn’t work with the rest of the aesthetic in your kitchen.
Personally, even in some kitchens, I think having ALL SS appliances can be a bit over powering if they are too close together.
Whats up with the windows? Looks like you redid the kitchen and have old windows?
I do like the island though, very nice. If you like it, that is all that really matters, although if I were going to sell it, I’d take it down and just paint it. It will be much less offensive, and when you’re selling, you want to be as neutral as possible.
And a big :mfinger: to turbociv. Here’s my kitchen (albeit several years ago), where’s yours? :purextc:
-edit-
lol, beat while typing the response. I like the way your tile looks from afar, seems like an economical way to achieve a higher end look but I would have tiled the edge as opposed to using the wood I think.
i was on a budget and crunched for time. with the given dimensions of the current counter top i had a space leftover which made it easy to just add molding. it worked out nicely because eben though the pic isnt great the molding after being stained is a dead match to the old cabinets. I just didnt have the money to ball out and get new cabinets and counter tops.
your kitchen looks nice and modern though, the kinda look i would go for if i were to actually do a kitchen tear down.
shifty- I don’t hate it and think it could look aight in person.
turbociv- gimme yo cat
This reminds me I need to do backsplash and get a matching granite counter for my island. How the F can I find a match to what was in the house when I bought it?
don’t try to match the center island, deviated is the in style - and looks great in the OP’s kitchen.
my new house has horrible counters… but they are all brand new… so im going to just deal with it… until the time comes to deal with it…
I love dark counters and stainless though… unfortunately… i have neither. and other priorities in line first.
Mine isn’t really a center island its really not an island at all I should not have called it that. Hold on I will get a pic in a sec. It is where you would typically have a wall seperating kitchen/dining room.
you would be amazed at how much better you can cater to your personal needs/looks on little money. just gotta DIY to keep the extra cash in yo pocket.
its more of a breakfast nook than an island. it would look tits-tastic if it had matching countertops
FML I just went to take a pic and its a mess lol. I would clean it and post but I am about to go work on :snky:
^yea… time and money will determine where and what project i start first… landscaping is a huge priority on my list…
I want to get the pool scene situated before summer comes and i want to use it.
Furninshing the bedroom and living room are priority number one…
Kitchen will come after yard and pool…
obviously the garage will fit in there too…
