So when we bought our house last year the kitchen sucked hard.

There you have it. We quadrupled our cupboard space and added all stainless appliances. Sorry for the pictures as it’s hard to get good ones being such a tiny kitchen. It’s only 11.5 x 11.5.

We did as much as possible by ourselves. It was actually a good learning experience and quality time together. Floor tiling was easy as can be. Filling where the door to the basement used to be was a cake walk as I did drywall for a living at one point. Plumbing wise not much had to be moved. Countertops were done by Sortie Creations. Color is Wilsonart HD Bella Noche with a beveled edge. Cabinets were purchased from Grossmans. Back splash hasn’t been a big ordeal either. If you can lay a floor you can do a backsplash. It is quite nice to be adding value to a home we have been in for only a year. We have 2/3 major rooms done now. Master was done the day we moved in. Kitchen is now done. Next step is to hire Xander to come and build me a bathroom. 
Any more closeups of that counter? Yours looks similar to mine, with the beveled edge, but I love that laminate color. Wilsonart HD is very good stuff.
That’s a dark kitchen lol. I do really like the backsplash.
