Yes you did. And sorry, can’t do Vizzy’s today, I got booking to do for 939…maybe next week?
Great car you got there Joe, can’t wait til you get the seals fixed so I can take it out and beat on it a bit. I’m glad the paint came out as nice as it did.
I dig mr2’s.
Never driven one.
I’ve seen a vid or two of them with a v6 crammed out back…
Do it.
Thanks again to Brian and Luke, you guys helped so much!
Weather pending, I’ll post some photos tomorrow. I can’t believe how well this car came out.
Holy fuck…
What a long day today was…
Worked on the car from 9:30 this AM until 8 PM…
Got a few really good photos…
Will post them tomorrow, too tired now…
Bump, no new pics. LOL J/K
I know you are “on a budget”, but all the parts you mentioned for $700 actually seems like a really good deal. Do you still have your other MR2?
X…
Ok guys, here’s the almost finished MR2 as of last night!
More to follow this evening, but these were taken with my friend’s camera, much better than mine (which were taken during the day, and into the early evening).
Here’s a list of all that’s been done so far:
Paint: Washed the car THOROUGHLY twice, using a powerwasher first to get all the wheels, wheel wells, and undercarriage good. Proceeded with rubbing (with buffer) the entire car with Turtle Wax rubbing compound. Followed that with washing the car again, and then polished (with buffer) the car with Turtle Was polishing compound. Washed the car one more time, and then started wit hthe first coat of wax. Once again, washed cars, and followed up with another coat of wax. Finally, I finished up with one 1 more wash, and just for good measure, as it was wet, I sprayed on Eagle 1 Wax-As-You-Dry before polishing it clean. Whew…
Interior: The interior of the car was a mess. I seriously doubt it had been cleaned at all in the last 10 years. I decided the whole thing had to come out, seats, carpet, all plastics, everything but the dash itself. With everything out, I got a clean rag and wiped EVERYTHING down, shampoo’ed the seat and carpets, and took all the interior plastics and powerwashed all the dust/dirt away before then cleaning them with soapy water and just a tiny bit of Formula 2001 conditioner. I then put it all back together and razor cleaned all the glass. This was a lot of work. The JVC stereo is the work of genious Luke L. It’s very straight forward. As all the stock speakers were original and unmolested, I didn’t want to even touch them (wanted to maintain it’s originality), so we just ran our own speaker wire from the JVC unti to only 2 6x9’s mounted in perfect sized boxes mounted behind the seats. It’s all you need in an MR cabin. Everything went together great. I love it.
I’ll add more as I post more photos.

One more for good measure:
Looks good (I think)…
Where’s the daytime pics you noob?
Take it easy guy, give me a few hours…still at work…
Nice pick up man! Except for the missing boost (still looking), the car looks sharp!
It’s almost fun restoring these cars, but it’s definitely fun driving them in a more restored condition. I spent close to $700 on mine this spring just giving it better daily bits, that reminds me, I gotta update my build thread…
Congrats on the pick up man, it looks good.
Ok all, here’s a few, finally…

Looks Great!
I saw your car on the swedespeed classifieds, and was sad to see you had it up for sale already.
…But Toyota>Euro always.
Nice purchase
Thanks. Unfortunately it has to go. But it all happens for a reason…right?
Wow, phenomenal job turning that car around.
looks fantastic, nice job
Thanks guys. Forgot to mention, in addition to powerwashing all the wheel wells, I also pulled the front wheels, used purple power on everything, powerwashed again, and then once dry, flat blacked the calipers, rotor hats, and brake shields. I ran out of time to do the rears, but that will be done this w/e.
Lee is also coming over, we’re going to remove the exhaust, weld in a new elbow, and then I’m going to paint the exhaust tubing (minus the muffler, which is already polished) silver. I already painted the straight pipe exhaust the same way. It’s going to look sweet!
Whew…last photo, prob. my favorite too…
looking good Brosef
Big improvement, nice job. Though clearly at this point the car is too good for you Joe
