So here is what GM and Chrysler came up with:

GM AUTO RESCUE PLAN
Cash aid sought - $16.6bn
Job cuts - 47,000
Production cut - 5 plants
Sales target 2009 - 11.5 to 12m
Car models axed - 12

Chrysler auto rescue plan
Cash aid sought - $5bn
Job cuts - 3,000
Production cut - 1 shift
Sales target 2009 - 10.1m
Car models axed - 3

So apparently Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, and Hummer are all cut leaving GM with: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC.

On Chrysler’s side of things they are cutting three models: PT cruiser, Dodge Durango and Chrysler aspen.

Definitely not the way I would have done it, but its a start.

So GM’s receiving almost 1000x what they plan to sell in 2009 and still have to cut 50k people loose?

Ok im not a total economic genius or anything, and I really havent been following the whole bailout of the entire US economy joke bs but I honestly think that if this money was given to the consumers rather than these stupid ginormous companies who piss away more money in one persons annual bonus than i make in 10 years then the economy would get batter.

The government is not fixing anything just prolonging the crash

GM needs to cut GMC. Why have a brand that sells absolutely nothing but rebadged Chevy’s?

gm needs to get rid of gm so that gm isnt selling gm’s under the name gm, that way chevy could sell chevy’s somehow without gm. thats how i read it.

Well GMC doesnt make one truck that Chevy doesnt. Why make two identical lines of trucks and market two lines?

Costs could be cut by just making Chevy’s and only marketing Chevy’s.

GMC= Generic Made Chevy
