I had to do two coats and I feel like I got screwed on price. maybe $1500 would have been better bc it needed the second coat. (brushed by hand, his request)
The same guy now wants me to paint his other barn:
the front probably needs to be power washed.
the back is unpainted
its 50’x 32.5’ and 15.5’ to the bottom of the roof line
little shack 13x15’:
Pretty sure he wants to do $1000 for the barn and $2-300 for the shack. He will buy materials and probably power wash.
ugh, dude has made space.
wish I had a bunch of land…
How long will it take you?
if he’s buying all materials, it’s just your time he’s buying…
sooo whatever you want to sell yourself for /hr.
The last barn you got screwed on you feel and the new barn is much more square footage by the looks. Not to mention the unpainted is going to look different than the painted with only 1 coat, so count on 2 and tell them it’ll need 2. I’d say 1000 per coat. It’s more square footage but it’s easier to get a ladder around the new barn. $1000 per coat seems fair, if he says that’s too much tell him to get a real painter in there for an estimate and he’ll come crawling back haha.
thats what I am saying, I want to maximize my profit but I dont want to tell him too much and have him hire someone else. Any idea how much it would typically cost?
I would say that your rate is $1000 per coat, and you underestimated the first time and gave him the second free. You could even say, since you believe that the building will need a 2nd coat, you could do $1700, or $2000 for both the barn and shed, 2 coats a piece.
Look at how much more sq footage you’ve got to cover, the first barn had a huuuge opening in it, not to mention the bottom didn’t get painted. I wouldn’t touch that pig for under $1000 per coat.
