battery relocation

what the hell is the purpose of this? moving it farther from the electrical workings and putting more wieght on the rear wheels. can some one elaborate? please?

Weight distribution and room to run FMIC piping.

to make a custom air intake so theirs a shorter distance to run. More air flow

Fmic kits require you to cut a hole in the battery tray … u cant fit the 240sx battery … that why some ppl relocate it to the trunk or use a slim battery.

^^ How would that work with a hatch? Would you just end up having to go with a slim battery? Or could you re-locate the battery back there? I dont think i’ve seen anyone ( with a hatch ) that has done that setup.

its no different from a coupe you just need a sealed battery or if your going to use a non sealed battery you have to get a sealed battery box and vent it outside

i did it to my hatch, but we hamilton ppl are crazy tho.

you aren’t required to go through the battery tray. that’s just the most common way. some setups (like mine) go straight down beside the frame rail and loop around to the intercooler so you don’t have to relocate.

as mentioned by others, it helps significantly with the weight transfer, taking 40-50lbs from the very front and putting it in the very back does more than you’d think.

Miata battery FTW
