Beck Specific: Recommend me a bike.

Hats off to Walter, impressive essay!

You’re completely right. I will not ass hat on the bike at all.

I have no desire to break 100 mph, nor do wheelies.

I want something cheaper on insurance and gas.

I want something to cruise around with, when im with willybeen and his buddies.

I have no desire to mod the bike beyond a pipe, and flush mounts. Maybe a thing here and there. Nothing insane.

I am going to sign up for the Motocycle course, and go from there.

Thanks mike.

P.S. - I think i saw you riding on N. Forest a few days ago. You looked damn fine. :hay:

this is way too big, but it is the bike i’d like to work up to someday:

honestly, get something old, small and slow. a friend of mine just picked up an old honda ascot that is in really nice shape for under a g. he loves it and is learning a ton from it.

BTW, if u get a honda, my sister’s BF works on hondas for a living and fixes them on the side at a very reasonable rate.

HUFFY

At the end of the day, he just wants to look cool and cruise around…

and tell all the ladies its my birthday, so i can get free canolies.

BUY MY R6! do it! 6 GRAND and its yours… the ladys love my bike… but for some odd reason mostly girls under 16 like it. its got everything you would want, new tires.flush mounts, exhaust. pm me or check my thread in forsale for more info

thats my friends bike in rochester… u cant drive it on the street its not legal with no headlights,

nothing against 87foxgt’s post, but i’d value walters a bit more

yea, there are exceptions here in there, in terms of people who have started on a big bike and not wrecked

but 98% of riders wreck, esp on a big bike

all these people don’t tell you to start with an older bike for no reason. I don’t have anything to gain by you getting an older bike.

older bikes are slower, and you are a littl ebit less likely to kill yourself

I am a decent rider, pay a ton of attention, took MSF when I was 17 before I started riding.

and the street is too crazy for me. I don’t think I’m even going to register my bike next year, I think I’ll leave it on the track.

this topic has been so beaten to death throughout ubrf and nyspeed history, so I will just say; if you MUST have a 600cc sportbike to start out on, buy a yamaha fzr 600, a suzuki katana, maybe an sv650 (non “s”) or a gsx600f, a mid 90s yamaha zx6r, or a honda cbr 600 f2 or f3.

you will not like the gixxer. I’m a small guy too, 5’10" ~165 lbs, and gixxers are too wide and piggish for me (until the 06).

you need some shit with style nigga:

hawt

course
gixxer 600

and u say u wont go over 100now…u will trust me.

but 600 is all you need.
dont listen to anyone that say 600 is way to big 4 a starter bike. me and 87fox have proved that wrong.

just respect the bike and you will be fine

the r6 is also nice and light with a nice amount of power

Thanks Joe.

If you skip the first two posts he quoted, at the very least read the third.

Other than that, since you are looking for something to cruise on, and be good on insurance and gas, then there are far better choices than anything tyou’ve listed.

A newer supersport bike like you’ve listed, does NOT belong anywhere in the same sentance as “good on insurance”. A modern SS will run you in the thousands to insure annually.

A modern 600SS has more horsepower than a liter bike of just a few years ago. Displacement is not your guide. On top of that, a 636 (or any other bike you listed) is super fast.

No one says you ever have to end up riding on the track. Bikes make great commuters, and fun cruisers. Plus you get the amazing camaradre of being a biker.

You are young, and dumb, and all the “nu-uhs” you want to post aren’t going to change that, so in the end I realize you are going to do whatever you want.

Just remember, all those 16 yr old chicks aren’t going to know the difference between an F3 or a 600RR, they are going to (with equal enthusiasm and panty wetness) say “Damn, that’s a hot bike”. The only people you’d impres with a newer bike, are 16 yr old dudes, but hey, maybe you’ve changed in the last year, and that’s what you’re in to now.

If you want serious advice, I’ll answer any question you have open minded. I’ve put more miles on bikes on the road, and tripple digit speeds on the track than probably 95% of the members on this site, and I’ve got no reason to blow sunshine up your ass.

That can’t be anymore perfect for him at all. That’s all you had to say to him to sell it.

Thanks walter.

I do value your opinion.

Except, I know I can ride a 600 for my first bike. I don’t want something under 600. I will be bored with it, in a couple months. I want something I can grow into, and not have to worry about selling it, and buying a new one next year. With twizted, mikey, and willybeen, all helping me out, I am sure I won’t have any problem.

And for the record, I am 100% dead serious, when i say "i won’t be stunting, doing wheelies, and speeding. I have far too much to lose, just because i needed to show off, or get an adrenaline rush. And, even if i get an adrenaline rush, it’ll be far too big, and if i want a piece of ass, i’ll just hit up hollywood bolevard. [/f&f]

Im sold.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t like your bike, for some reason, something about it is awkward.

Plus I can’t pull off red flames…thats Butch’s job.

you greatly underestimate how easy it is to be over 100 mph on a sport bike…shit you’re barely out of 2nd gear…

More to the point, if you’re not going to race, ride hard, track it, etc… you certainly do not need an “R” type bike (GSXR, RR, etc… etc…)

theres a beautiful 02 f4i in my garage with a yoshi pipe, flush mounts, undertail, lots more little stuff sitting in my garage u should come take a look at…
