I just bought an eg civic shell to swap my motor into and the brakes are bad all the way around. The car will be boosted and daily driven (no track time). Im trying to decide what the best new set up would be price vs. performance. I was thinking about doing new oem calipers with aftermarket pads and rotors, or possiably an aftermarket kit that includes everything.
whats the budget? u should be ok if u swap the rears to disc obv and go with the 10.3 disc with the use of a good pad & fluid…this way u can still run 13" slicks. otherwise u can go with the 11.1 or 12" brake kit, and they fit under certain 15" wheels so u can still run a 15" slick on it…I had the 11.1 dynalite kit, it was pimp. was using a 15x7 +43 te-37 w/ a 5mm spacer.
personally id go with gsr/integra brakes (can also be found on 93-95 ex civics and some si hatches) they are 10.2 i believe and will be a good upgrade for most hatches, just like toda said they are great for fitting 13" slicks (what 90% of drag racing hondas run)
i think that seccond link is perfect thankyou! still open to other suggestions budget is ~1000 for fronts and rears
+2 For Integra brakes. Stick with OEM calipers and just get some good pads and braided lines. Aftermarket kits usually only address the front which will upset the brake bias and actually increase stopping distance. No need to spend 1000.
FWIW when i had the wilwoods on the EG w/ rear disc, there was no noticeable difference from oem bias. car stopped on a dime.
warm up the pads w/ a brake boost for best results hahaha
