Iphone 4, Iphone 3GS, and Evo!
Agreed.
Sure iphone has a slighty higher resolution than the droid x but that’s pretty much the only thing it has goin for it against it. Gooooo iphone
Well lets get it straight. With iOS 4, iPhone 3G sucks huge ones, iPhone 3GS is a little better but still laggy and the iPhone 4 is amazing.
I’ve tried the EVO, Droid and a few other android phones and I can’t stand them, specifically the operating system and the functionality of the phone (mainly the camera and editing with the camera).
My vote is iPhone 4 if you are going to stay with AT&T, HTC EVO if you are going with Sprint and Droid X if you are going to go to Verizon.
But then again my opinion is a little biased because I am a 4 year iPhone user.
BTW, I have yet to experience any of the problems that are talked about with the iPhone 4 (antenna issues and proximity issues). Mine works flawless without a case/bumper, yes I drop calls from time to time but that is an AT&T thing, everyone else I know on AT&T drops calls NOT only with an iPhone. Oh and now that jailbreaking is legal, my jailbroken iPhone 4 is even better than ever. Facetime on 3G? Yes please!
My company is switching from Verizon with various phones including the droid, to AT&T and iPhone4 and iPads, simply because it makes the most sense for the application (not apps, but how the phone is to be used) we need it for.
Verizon is trying like hell to win us back because it’s a loss in the millions, but I’m told we’ll only go back when iPhone hits Verizon (if that ever happens).
I don’t know what to believe because I’m not part of that decision. Our VP is an Apple fanboi, so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.
My region hasn’t made the switch yet. But the ones who have love the phone and the iPad, but hate the coverage. Nationaly, AT&T coverage apparently sucks balls.
I heard that the Droid 2 is coming out August 12th. It’s like a smaller Droid X with a slide out keyboard. Seems pretty sweet. The Galaxy S (coming out in September) also looks promising. I KNOW that none of thse are out now, but whatever.
I literally just went through this, but I paid an ETF because I couldn’t take the terrible service on my iPhone any longer, and OS4 made it unusably slow. The Evo 4G and Droid X are both great phones, and after a few days acclimating to the UI differences, you’ll be much happier than you were with the iPhone. I went with the Droid X, after weeks of indecision, and have no complaints (other than battery, but you’ll have that with any phone in this class).
interesting… b/c thats supposed to have an above average battery life…
I’m constantly on my phone, and I never turn the GPS off… The screen is also a monster power hog.
i love my droid x . The battery only lasts me pretty much all of the business day because of the amount of calls i get. Im going to buy the extended battery once verizon gets it in at the monroeville store. Other than the battery i have no complaints. I went from the droid eris (aka droid garbage) to the x and its a night and day difference.
AT&T just has a horrible network. They have spent more money in the past few years on expanding their network, than they have made in profit. A lot of this is due to the demand for the iphone. With how much data that iphone users demand, at&t cannot keep up with it, causing a lot of issues like dropped calls and times when 3g drops out.
In November, Android 3.0 will be coming out, supposedly. Phones that do not have at least a 1Ghz processor will not be able to get the upgrade to 3.0. And rumor has it that many new phones will be coming out at that time based on the new upgrades. There will be many capable choices by then and will be the latest and greatest ( until something comes out the following month). If I were buying a new phone, I would wait until November/December to asses all of the new options. If you are wanting to get a phone right now, the Droid 2 is a great phone, except for the camera. It has the hardc qwerty keyboard which many people like. The Droid X is really one of the best phones on the market right now. Shoots and plays HD videos. It has the newer 1Ghz processor from TI and should be able to handle everything very sharply and quickly. The only downside is that some people dont like having that big of a phone in their pocket.
I want the Evo X but it will be too much of a hassle for me to switch over to sprint. Will prob end up with the Droid X. I fucking hate Motorola though, and this would be my first non-HTC phone in like 5 years… :hs:
Do you guys that have these new smartphones use them for work or personal use?
The main need is work in my case. Personally I would be fine with a basic phone
That’s what I am thinking. My work gives me a blackberry to use but if I had to get a personal phone, it would be a basic phone, no keyboard, data, all the other useless bs. I see a lot of people with iphones and such for personal use, WTF is the point? Unless you like throwing money away just to have the latest and greatest thing on the market.
I completely agree, if I didn’t need a blackberry for work I’d be glad to save the money and have a normal phone with no data plan… just a phone
Just because you’re too old and stupid to be able to figure it out doesn’t mean it’s useless.
my work phone is a 12 button piece… i simply forward the number to my personal phone… blackberries are junk, they are good for email and battery life… andriod helps me greatly with vpn / rdp and whatnot for work, but free tethering and other features put it above and beyond… oh and all the apps being free or native to the OS is also > *
