Best Headlights

I’m sick of HID’s in my DD… they suck.

I want to go back to regular bulbs… what’s awesome?

I hear Raybrig Whitesonics are among the best, I run Silverstars but I think I’ll buy these next:

do a proper HID retrofit and they won’t suck :stuck_out_tongue:

This guy sells the right stuff, apparently the Cibie housings are the way to go, probably sells quality H4’s too:

Kouki’s come with projectors. 4300K bulbs would make a world of difference over 6K as far as natural light goes. Better lumens.

if you’re doing HID get 4000k… don’t be gay and get 5000k+… the absolute white is the brightest and that is why OEMs get them… retards and aftermarket that get the blueish stuff just dont want to see… and being my first HID experience I got 5000k… not bad but I wish I got the 4000-4300k bulbs… also gotta have projectors with a cut off… i dunno if you’re running projectors or reflectors. There’s nothing cool about being blue and seeing nothing … plus it’s been proven that blue has a damaging effect on the eyes and the brain at longer exposures and puts you to sleep…

i’m just going to go back to a good bulb…

Yeah the problem with the kouki projectors are that they are Halogen projectors… Not HID projectors…
They aren’t really meant to have HIDs in them.

Hence why people do a retrofit…

I can’t remember what bulbs I use… I think they are the Silverstars…
Even though my headlights still suck afterward, I like them.

For sure. Even then though, 4300K’s in that projector is beautiful. Lights up the road really well. I found my halogens were more shit than my HID’s, I just have JDM cut off :(.

what about for a zenki s14?

No projectors, older plastic oval lense. If you do HID’s it will scatter more. You could eitheir black out the reflective housing part, or select something like a 4300K. 4300K will scatter less than 8K, and will blind less. Or if choosing a halogen, be prepared to drop the $$$$ on something like Raybrig’s or Silverstar Ultra’s. Stiky here has 4300K HID’s and they light up really well. After you see 4300K’s in action it is as clear as day that you will NEVER get that in a halogen, it’s impossible. That’s why I could never honestly recommend halogen over 4300K’s.

Silverstars are a nice white light, but many people say they have problems with premature failure. I’ve had them on a lot of offroad miles and got just over a year with them.

I found they were worth the price, even replacing them every year.

silverstars are shit, imo

premature failure like pete said and, for me, too blue

H1s dont have many options for awesome incandescent bulbs, so just go with a Hella or Osram oem replacement (55W) H1. it shouldn’t be more than $5/ea and will light up the road better than crappy chinese blue HIDs

other option is to try a Hella 100W H1 (also only $5) but um, i wouldnt recommend this, since it will likely melt your shit in a hurry and won’t last too long

your light output is more limited by the crappy projector optics than the bulb.

solution: S2K hid projector retrofit

i’ll drop by Canadian Tire at lunch today…

I’ll also be selling my HID’s immediately afterwards… someone buy them… so awesome

i had silverstars before, werent so bad but like everybody said they died pretty early, now i got a set of blue H4 bulbs that came off the sr car, meh i dont mind them

Well that explains it. Here I am thinking I wired up my shit wrong and they keep failing…

S2K projector is nice if you have ugly USDM headlights… lol
Still haven’t found a nice sized one for the JDM headlights…

Selling silverstars and silverstar ultras every day, I can verify shitiness. We can order some good bulbs through part source that are bright, long lasting, and inexpensive. They’re made by Nokya, some korean company, and I’ve had nothing but good experience with them. The website is nokyausa.co m. We can get them for $20/set. Another alternative is Nighthawk Platinum. 90% brighter than stock, but $60/pair. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also, the nokyas come in different colour and wattage options and the high wattage come with an optional replacement harness.

My Kouki is full of PIAA’s including yellow ones in the fogs.
They are pricey, byt by far the best I have ever seen in terms of incandescent.
Next order through my supplier will have a full set of PIAA’s for the zenki.

you’ll always get the best visibility using 4300k’s in projector headlights. retrofitting them will just cost a lot

I beg to differ… With the first part…

You’ll get FAR better visibility from an OEM retrofit. Since you’re actually using a projector designed for HID’s… The S14 Kouki headlights were simply not made for HID’s… A retrofit is the only way to go if you want a proper HID set up…
