Is it worth having the head o-ringed too? the block is getting done then the copper gasket but i’ve heard mixed stories about whether it’s important to get the head done also.
the block would be more than enough. You not exactly building a 1000 hp monster (are you?)

not sure yet, i got a list of stuff to get done then i’m gonna find the shops to do it…1k hp is a little outa my league but 500whp isn’t, i dont wanna be poppin 3 layer head gaskets.
anyone know of local shops that do this kinda work?

and find out if it needs to be a bare block or can be a assemblied short block for them to o-ring it
i would imagine it can be done both ways but i would do it bear block that way when it gets its final cleaning (block) it removes the junk they take off…course that would also depend on the thouroughness of the machine shop too. i’ll keep you informed i got 3 places i’m gonna call about in dec after i get my 1st paycheck.
I have yet to find anyone that has the tool small enough to do a 2.0l 4cyl. motor. Everywhere i’ve gone so far hasn’t been able to do it so i gave up on that idea (for my celica) a while ago.
Ever think about a straight copper gasket?
i got a couple places i’m lookin into, i dont’ wanna do a straight copper gasket if i wasn’t o-ringing i’d just go MLS instead. even if i have to send the block to california to get it o-ringed i guess that’s what i’ll hve to do.
sometimes after mexican food i swear that i’m gonna blow out my o-ring.
There’s a lot of people that go fast without having to oring the block… 500hp without oring’n i dont think is ‘absolutely necessary’.
…have you talked to buscher(sp?) or shepard at all about it?
500fwhp is where the block needs to be oringed with high boost and big turbos and i’m going for that at the wheels, i’d never seek advice from buschur even when tim was working there, i’ve considered asking shep bout machine shops out that way but this time of year he’s quite busy.

yeah i wasn’t saying “doood i totally want to o-ring my motor” because i think it sounds cool…pushing the 500whp mark +spray i aint’ using no mls gasket without something else with it.
