Best Time to Buy?

What is the best time to buy a bike for this summer? Depending on my tax return, spring bonus, and finances play out I am considering a new one or a 2001+ 600cc.

Do makers throw up a bunch discounts or 0% APR in the spring or is that the worst time to buy them?

Right before winter/ during winter I would say is the best time to buy. Dealers are trying to push left over stock and everyone wants to trade in the old and get the new.

^^ agreed. I would think that if you played your cards right, you could certainly haggle with a dealer with getting a great deal on last year’s leftover stock…

Around March, dealers are trying to ditch the leftovers and give some great deals. I had a few friends get some awesome deals on brand new bikes. Same with private listings, people trying to sell theirs to pickup a new bike.

  1. Manufacturers will not finance used bikes
  2. 0% that is offered on bikes is on CREDIT CARDS, not financing. This is a BAD idea (for most)
  3. You don’t need a new bike if it is your first bike, there are about 11tybillion threads explaining why so don’t bother asking.
  4. The best time to buy a bike is right now, when no one is riding. Fall and early winter at the best. As soon as it starts to hint at being warm the prices will sky rocket.

i will sell my 2003 cbr600rr (black) with 10k on the clock.

if you are interested, pm me.

PM me what you would think about getting for it. I learned on a CBR600 f4i

ignore my previous posts about first bikes :purextc:

i thought it was an f4?

dont buy new, save the depreciation, get a 1 year old bike and extend the warranty for 400 bucks 4 years, unlimited mileage with kaw or just find one with an extended warranty. 06 636’s will still be warranteed to 2011 if the owner opted to extend the warranty on it. DOOOO it.

Truth. To bad i don’t ride mine enough for it to matter :frowning:

yea, I’m also trying to sell my bike if your interested. 05 zzr600 (zx600-j4). kbb says $4750. or b/o I have around 5k miles on it. It is in perfect condition. never down/crashed. it is ready for summer! new tires and battery last summer.

That is your best deal. A year old bike, with the usual mods already installed, thousands under current retail for same year. This is what I did, your budget needs to be 5k+ for a good, never down, modded up year old SS. I also extended the warranty and am good until 2012  Warranty also was used last year and already paid itself off

Right now is definatly the best time to buy a used bike. It will be easy to knock a few hundred off of any asking price. Luxury goods are obviously in low demand during recessions/off seasons. Find a good loan through a bank and your all set.

And don’t forget the 10/10 rule.

Nothing over 10 years old or 10,000 miles.
