Hi. We’re not allowed in the house.

Just flew the drone over. Got chased out by an actual helicopter so I couldn’t get anything too awesome.

Woah

whoa, indeed. Looks like maybe some boats and rv’s (aside from smoke damage) may make it outta this alive?

I wonder if this alone produced more pollution than all of the diesel Audis and VWs combined.

Dozens of pieces of cutting edge firefighting equipment, hundreds of highly trained firefighting personnel on site, over 3 million gallons of water to knock down one of the biggest fires in Lackawanna…and day after day after day of trying to put out what in scale appears to be a campfire in comparison. Can we PLEASE reopen route 5?

On a side note, does anyone know what the taxpayers are paying the Thruway workers to sleep in the trucks being used behind the barriers at the road closures?

Way more than they comfortable with admitting, don’t forget about the pension too for all those hard working flag wavers.

Back when I worked briefly for a contractor… going back to 2009… i can say with a great deal of certainty that the guys sleeping in the trucks are making NYS prevailing wage… if not more.

Anyone know how to get that job?

Not really. The guys in the trucks are probably grade 8s. Maybe $30-$40k? Just a guess though, I am with a different agency

I’ll sleep in a truck and wave a flag for $40k a year. Where do I sign?

My uncle works for nys highway authority I believe, he makes $27/hr regular time.

That could be correct, I forgot we were talking thruway authority. If it was DOT my figure would be more accurate. Authorities aren’t bound by civil service law, as such they generally pay more, and can hire/promote easier.

And since someone (half jokingly I’m sure) asked -

Thruway authority jobs - http://www.thruway.ny.gov/about/jobs/

Power authority jobs (WORK HERE - they pay absurdly well and have the best of everything. Lots of postings currently. Tour guide at Lewiston? Sign me up!) - https://nypa.silkroad.com/epostings/index.cfm?fuseaction=app.allpositions&company_id=16007&version=1

All state agencies (centralized job postings) - https://statejobsny.com/public/vacancytable.cfm

The current retirement tier for new employees kind of blows FYI

sorry to to go off topic…
