The plan: recruit experienced conservatives to run and then supply them with the money and volunteers they need to topple the incumbent
In addition to tougher laws against abortion and gay marriage, these include expanded rights for prayer in schools and religious symbols in public places, as well as laws allowing churches to endorse political candidates. Evangelicals also want new laws that permit more federal funding for faith-based programs and that allow them to discriminate in hiring against non-evangelicals
