Bicycle crew: Post your ride

look != feel

as a skateboarder I can only relate as saying hating on 20" as a 26" is like a tranny hating on straight sex. hate all you want but what you are is trying to be what they already are

They are one in the same, if it feels like shit it looks like shit. I think the problem is you get used to riding the 26", and then when you hop on a 20" you end up riding around looking like you have a stick up your ass because the style is so different.

hahahahaha

Exactly, it feels like I have a stick up my ass therefore I don’t like riding it as much as I used to.

I will say, knowing your bmx ride was a haro it makes sense that you would feel more at home on a 26" bike lol Like I said to each his own.

What does that mean? It was my first real bmx bike and it lasted 10+ years of riding. I’ve never been hard core or ‘good’ by any means but i can hold my own.

What does “hold your own” mean lol, don’t worry about it I’m just not surprised you like dicking around on the 26" more than your old haro.

Idk, medium sized jumps, flat 360’s, decent manuals. I can hop onto a 2ft+ high ledge. nothing worth bragging about for sure.

Just picked this exact bike up today. I was going to go with the 2011 model but it made sense to pick up this years. Hydralic discs, deeeeecent components but for the price tag it’ll work fine until I decide to upgrade.

FUCKING PUMPED! Gonna ride right after work in this beautfil weather.

I’m still new to the area so any trail information or cool spots to go would be helpful!

Niawanda Park is a nice strip to ride down, where Spam and I ran yesterday at the Buffalo outer harbor.

new back wheel. odyssey rim, macneal hub. LHD, built by Eric at ECW.

There’s Hunter’s Creek out in Wales, NY. If that is too far of a drive, hit up Chestnut Ridge. There are some trails there to give you a feel for the bike and you’ll quickly want to go to a bigger place. There are trails off Rice Road in Boston NY, the powerlines are an option too. They are in Boston and can be accessed via either Omphalious Rd, Liebler Rd, or Boston Colden Rd. It’s been a bit since I road off road so those are just a few places off the top of my head.

^ thanks dude.

I found this too, great trail maps for the area.

Sprague brook has a nice loop once it dries out.

I talked with some serious riders at work and we are pretty close to that at this point. Who knows what the rest of the month will bring but it’s so unseasonably nice out that some of these trails are almost ready to ride!

Just PLEASE don’t ride the trails after a rain. Wait till they dry out. It sucks soooo bad when the trails are torn up and ruts are everywhere lol.

Holiday Valley’s single track down hill is amazing.

You can ride the XC ski loop @ Sprague brook safely when it’s moist, it’s sort of a semi improved double track with gravel. The backside culvert is probably still out from last fall, but all in all, it’s pretty safe and won’t be destructive to ride if you’re itchy.

What do you guys do for helmets. I pretty much refuse to wear one on the street, but I do not want to test the structural integrity of trees with my sweet hairstyle.

Dude I looked a new single impact helmets at the bike shop and they were like $70 for a lower end model. I may just scoop up a multiple impact skateboaridng helmet if I get more aggresive with my riding.

Why would you refuse to wear one on the street?

Here’s my new ride.

2011 Felt F4.
Carbon Frame/Fork
Ultegra Drivetrain/Brakes

I’ve got about 120 miles on it so far, and it feels great.
