Bicycle helmets... do you wear one?

I wear a helmet whenever I go for a ride, whether it is on the road or on mountain bike trails. I would never consider riding without one, and yes I look down upon people who don’t wear a helmet, especially when MTB’ing.

:wstupid:Exactly. When driving a car, you wear a seatbelt, so when riding a bike you wear a helmet.

:wstupid:I agree, I also feel naked without one. Especially when riding DH terrain. And I didn’t even need to take a shot to the head to feel that way.

It’s not about whether you are in control, it’s the other idiots on the road who are not in control of their 2 ton projectiles you have to worry about. It seems to me that most drivers are oblivious to bike riders, and you never know when one will come out of nowhere or do something unexpected and hit you.

I don’t care if anyone gets injured or killed by not wearing a helmet, that’s their choice and not my problem. What I don’t want to see is any bike riding areas closed down because someone got injured or killed due to not wearing a helmet.

Yes. Last summer I had a pretty bad fall and cracked my helmet. Very happy I was wearing it.

also, if you arent wearing any gear and you get involved in an accident with a car.
The insurance company can screw you on pay out. required gear is helmet, and pads.

Personally id rock it all if I started riding a bike again, people cant drive period.

I commute a lot on my bike and find that most drivers are okay. Some don’t know how to treat bikers, but at least they’re aware of them.

My wife and I usually ride along the river in Tonawanda and don’t wear a helmet. We are away from the crowds and don’t do any excessive speeds.

But when doing the Ride for Roswell, you have to wear one, but I would anyways since you are mixed with regular traffic.

I ALWAYS wear a helmet. I have gone over the bars way too many times not to while mountain biking, and it just seems stupid not to wear it on the road.

The key is to have a good helmet with good ventilation. I can barely even tell I am wearing mine, and it doesn’t look bad either.

i ride a lot… usualyl ~ 750-1000 miles a year…

i always wear a helmet… ive almost been hit by cars too many times to count…

not only that… but sometimes when im stopping my shoes dont release right from my pedals… and you kind of fall over… would be lame to hit your head on something like that

i just bought this the other day http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/975070/BlackIonos2008.jpg

I always thought a helmet was a helmet, but after testing one of these the other day, it was great… airflow and heat was WAY down, so was sweat… and it was VERY light…

to bad they cost ~ 150 bux on ebay

Do bicycle helmets work very good?

:banghead:

they work for bicylce type crashes…

Ie you fall off your bike you dont conk your head on a curb etc…

if you get hit by a car going 60mph… it probably is just going to keep your head together…

its kind of like a skydiving helmet…

When I’m on my bmx I only wear it when required (skatepark) or when riding trails. Since I pretty much only ride trails now I pretty much wear it everyday. Whenever I am on a road bike I wear a helmet, too much shit going on while riding on the roads to chance not wearing one.
