Big day today: Just paid off my Lotus!

:picard: this thread isn’t about newman or anyone’s beliefs on debt, the OP paid off his baby and we should congratulate him

bunch of a holeeeesss

scenario 1 real life version: you lose your job, your investment and nest egg were both wiped out by the shittiest market since 1929.

you have no equity in your car and your stocks are trading 1/5 of their value two years earlier.

now if this thread was made 2 years ago, and I said this you would tell me to check into a mental health facility

stocks involve risk, at least if you pay off your car you dont have a payment anymore

jim, since you had a nest egg to live from, you were actually under scenario two… for you to be under scenario one you would have paid off the car using your nest egg.

I don’t know too much about investing, but I do know that the market is extremely shitty as far as saving, in the past 1 1/2 my high yeilding savings acct. went from 5.35% to 2.20%
:frowning:
congrats on paying off the car! Now take that money from your paycheck that you would be paying your payment with, and toss it in a savings account for a rainy day.

:picard:

If you are paying 6% on a car note these days, you suck.

If you can’t manage a rate of returns higher than what you should be paying for a car note, you suck.

If you think your money is going to dissapear in the stock market, or that a savings account is the only thing liquid you can invest in, or any of the other crap in this thread, please continue keeping your matters under your bed and keep watching Fox News…I’m sorry to have tried to have an intelligent discussion.

I respect your opinion, however, you don’t realize my life’s scenarios and finances. I have been able to pay this car off, and invest a huge amount of money (making more than the interest I’ve been paying on the car), and live very comfortable all the while. I chose to pay this car off quick for a few reasons. For starters, I could, and also at the loan rate I had, it was foolish not to. Not that I need your approval, but don’t assume this was done as a mad dash just to get “rid” of some debt…

walter is just an audi driving fag.

I’m glad you meet your goal! Enjoy the car.

Good stuff…and it’s probably worth more now than you paid for it with the fresh motor too, much better than you probably woulda done with the money in the market lol…

Don’t read much do you? I said it wasn’t directed to you? :picard:

paying off cars is such a great feeling
