haha

The K20 really is an incredible motor…

A K20 would be ideal but it’s also about twice the price of a turbo D, and a B16 is somewhere in the middle. I’m a pretty indecisive person so I’m having trouble deciding exactly which route I want to go. In the end, anything is better than the 38hp it currently has

Little update: New battery and battery cable ends, dropped the gas tank off at Hamburg Radiator to be flushed and redcoated, put a new fuel filter in, fixed the choke cable, started pulling the black checker vinyl off the roof and hood. The new carb should be here by Friday and if I can figure out the shifting issues, it should be on the road next week!

I feel like I need to open up my schedule

Would be cool to to throw in the supercharged mini motor. What about a 1.8 Miata motor? Small but takes mods well and cheaply as well.

@Baker wants me to do this too haha. As far as the Miata motor… I haven’t really looked into it but after all the research I have done, it’ll get one of the 3 Honda motors.

There’s always the Hayabusa motor…

Best route to go.

I’ve thought about how great of a base one of these would be for an electric conversion. ~1400 lbs, perfect

nice pickup

+1, they check all the boxes

I’ll just leave this here. Love the shifter

I tried to figure out the shifting issues this weekend and it looks like the problem is inside the transmission. The motor needs to be pulled to fix it and I’m going to have 0 motivation to put a 38hp motor back into the car. I was hoping to drive it around on the current setup this summer but I think it’s going to get torn apart so I can do the bodywork and prep it for the swap.

I need some advice. I started stripping the paint off the car before I realized I’m going to have to park the car outside for 2 weeks when I get my new garage floor poured in the next few days. It’s not ready to be primed yet, what’s the best way to protect the bare metal from rusting? I’ve only done the roof and hood so far but I don’t want it all to go to shit.

Quick spray paint job?
Put the car under a tarp?
Any KNOWN products I can use to protect it? I found Krud Kutter but I don’t totally trust it.

Unfortunately I can’t drive it to someone else’s garage.

TIA.

WD40 and a big tarp? get her nice and greasy!

Put WD40 or laquer on it, it will be fine.

Olive oil.

Weird…all the ideas i told you…lol

I know you are paranoid like me, but it will be fine if you oil it up and wrap a tarp over it.

You can try this stuff, but wear gloves and googles.

D16 turbo

It’s funny, I was just thinking about this car the other day while driving home from work. While a B series or K series would be cool, a SOHC D series motor would be super cheap, fun, and definitely cheap to turbo.
