big problema w/ 2000 celica

so i recently recived a ticket in my white 2000 Celica Gts. tail lights were out no biggie, rt? wrong!! no fuse would stay in, so i traced wires only to find some burnt up:( i spliced new peices in and tried again, more buring wires! i got fed up with wiring issue took it to wieland automotive. two days go by not one word of the issue no estimate no info at all! so i called them they said they have no clue what is wrong, they said even the dealership doesn’t wanna touch the car… so my question goes out to any one with a clue, what the hell is wrong with my tail lights :frowning: please help me!!!

You have a dead short somewhere. The pros know what a royal pain in the ass it will be to find (tracing each wire) so they don’t want to touch it.

Basically you have to start at the fuse block and trace the wires from there, to the brake pedal, to the tail lights. I’d start in the more obvious places like in the tail light housing themselves (making especially sure that the correct bulbs are installed) and brake activation switch.

What sucks is now that some of the wires have melted it may be easier to simply re-wire the entire run. If they melted in one section chances are they melted or were near melting in another as well. At some point I’d say someone must have bypassed the fuse or tried the old, “it’s blowing 5’s, let me stick a 10 in there”. NEVER put a larger fuse in.
