Got some stuff from Vintage Air today.
New A/C compressor that lines up correctly and gives me more clearance.
Factory GM
Much more room, I can even shave off the extra tabs and get more room.
rear exit lines, it will be tight but a nice hard line will be fine.
16" SPAL fan that flows 3000cfm, I will make a custom shroud for it soon.
condenser.
some quick updates.
made some radiator support covers
some a/c condenser mounts.
and some swap meet scores
brand new 20gal aluminum fuel cell for $50
and a 55 belair horn ring/center for $10
MINT. Seriously :tup:
been a couple weeks since an update but have been plugging away.
shaved the dash.
added the climate controls
and some vents
made brackets for the heaterbox
bulkhead fitting for the firewall.
and mounted the a/c drier
started making wheel tubs, it was fun getting them to mount up to the stock inner wheel lip.
next up was the radiator cover.
which was plain, so I added dimple dies.
and still looked unfinished so my friend Jeremy made a filler piece on the english wheel
saved up enough dough to buy the tires $$$$$ and get the wheels powdercoated.
and ill just leave these here. ride height.

Jesse’s 54 has been a big influence in the overall look of the car. There are a few differences mostly on the rear of the car, he has frenched rear lights, where mine have extended housings and stock chrome bezels, hes running a 54 bumper, im gonna run a 55. and so on.
Such a cool build…for the climate controls…is that a reproduction 54 ERA unit or is it designed to just look old skool and you made it work?

It’s a hell of an influence to have. You probably saw the Monster Garage one he built with all the kustom legends from back in the day. Somebody on the HAMB saw it in an auction for like $30K, it was pathetic.
I tried to buy the ‘54 that was out by me. Threw on my most minty So-Cal shirt, loaded up my fastback with $3K cash (in $500 bundles) and tossed a tall, leggy blonde in the passenger seat. In a short skirt. All guns blazin’ on this one.
Drove over to the place where the car had sat for four years… only to find it was gone. We walked around the garage looking in the windows (it was Sunday and a business) and it just straight disappeared. Four years of sitting still and the week before I try to make an offer it vaporizes. Called and got no return phone calls.
So now, I am living my chopped '54 dream through you. Don’t let me down man :tup:
they are made by vintage air, not cheap but then again its a hot rod, nothings cheap.
cool, I always wanted a chopped 54 among other cars, the plan was a “driver” project. I was gonna lower it and patch it up, well you can see how well that worked out…
