Ahhhheeemmmmmmm? WE made the grill. :rofl
I hate doing gears. Unless you do them all the time they are far to time consuming. Glad to see you got it done yourself though, only way to go!
deff time consuming. took me a total of 10 hours or so start to finish.
didn’t really feel like changing and crawling on the cold garage floor today so I did a couple little odds and ends inside the car.
installed the new speedo cable, put the cluster back in and installed the tach. I still have to wire it though.
rebuilt and installed the heater control/slider assmb., I have to clean up the knobs still so ill install them another day.
random one with the car covered in dust and in a million pieces
what brake package is that on the front. I must have missed it earlier in the thread, but those look like 4 piston calipers.
they are ssbc 4 piston calipers. pretty much the best you can buy with out going with the big dollar set ups like bear and wilwood
dave when are you going to address the inner fender area and rid it of that hideous red, or is that staying for some reason?

Its red oxide primer, thats exactly what the cars looked like when they were new.
a fully “concourse” restored 67 shelby
its not a concourse car though. its just unsightly. if it were a factory spec resto i could see that. but its a theme car.
what did the movie car have dave??
its all about what the movie car had, and i have no idea.
it was never shown, but based on what i’ve read about the movie cars they prob had holes, most of them were rats nests just made to do a certain job and look good on screen. When I install the front coilovers I’m going to do the fenderwells in truck bed liner just like I did on the underside of the fender because they can be seen, and to give them some sort of chip guard. however the floor/underside of the car will stay the oxide primer.
more like I set it up and you did the work:thumbup
too bad we have to make another one.
FWIW, isn’t one of the actual movie cars here in NY inside some barn’like museum on display? Could just go take a peek at it :ponder
The bed liner idea is solid though, just have the wheel wells shot in gravitex or similar. Stuff is easy to apply.
werd… if someone knew how to read a tape measure we wouldnt have that problem. lol
dont think there is any of them in the tri state area…
got the rear end back together
the driveshaft was a crappy white color so I cleaned it up and painted it.
I put the driveshaft back in and re assembled the parking brake.
yeah i like the underside how its done. but like you said about chips and all that, this car should be driven, might as well optimize it for that
its a lot of work to do the red oxide primer/overspray. The PO did a good job and did it when the car was a bare shell on a rotisserie so i’m going to leave it. The fenderwells will look better in truck bed liner and they will be durable. I already put about 2500-3000 miles on the car in the couple months I had it on the road, its tough to say exactly how much because the speedo cable broke on day 1.
i was agreeing with the wheel wells being done and leaving the under carriage alone :thumbup
:lmao
myself and krazy kid got the upper and lower grille all welded up last night
I made some cardboard templates so I could trim them to fit the openings
upper test fitted
upper and lower
(hood is not closed on this one)
once they were fit it was time to polish the face.
120 compound
400 compound
rough cut rouge
final cut(its a bit greasy/dirty so the picture makes it look dull)
tomorrow after work ill mask off the face and paint the rest of the grille black, remove the tape and clear the whole thing.
