bike vs car who will win?

i’ll let you watch to find out

wow that’s a pretty insane video, that m3 handles like a champ. +1

Or the motorcycle rider sucks.

i didnt watch the video…

but i dont need to

regardless of the circumstances if its a fast car it will beat any bike at anything (drag, lapping, top speed, etc)

as far as i know, there are no circumstances where a bike is faster than its equivalently hardcore 4 wheeled counter part

to be honest, im not sure why people think otherwise…

bikes are fast out of the box whereas a car is not - that is the only advantage to a bike.

once you start modding both - the car comes out on top unless it’s weaksauce (ie: the shit 99% of us drive)

Did you see that turbo R1 video on youtube? its hard to imagine a car being able to pace that bike. And thats not even a lengthened bike… he can’t even keep the front wheel on the ground.

The computer i’m on doesn’t even have a sound card. What computer in the year 2007 doesn’t have a sound card???!

EDIT: The Veyron VS. R1 video does prove your the car-faster-than bike theory though.

the veyron vs. r1 is an ok example but that’s not really my point

those are both stock

im not talking about any specific car or specific bike, im just saying the platform of a 2-wheeler vs the platform of a 4-wheeler - with an unlimited budget

the 4-wheeler is going to come out on top, in any scenario, to the best of my knowledge.

the turbo r1 is fast

but go look up some 2500hp street cars or 8000hp/5000tq drag cars that do like 325mph in 4.xx seconds (much higher than top speed of a veyron btw)

do you still think the turbo r1 is fast?

the other bike pasted them both…

bikes still kick ass, but i’m too scared to learn to drive them.

frig, Varun’s ATV scared the shit out of me and i didnt even take it off his street.

You cant exactly compare the two…especially on public roads where the bike driver cant corner as agressivlely as he could on a track. Each vehicle has it’s strengths and weaknesses, but put them both on a GP race track and see who comes out on top.

Anyways, this was on the same link!! DAMN!

gp bikes dont lap as far as cars on the same track

bikes corner like poop in comparison

Did anyone notice the road they were on? That’s the insane part. There are so many twist and turns. I wish there were something like that close to toronto.

i always thought bikes would own

yeah but vs. what car? . On a course with no sharp corners or chicanes the R1 would destroy the BMW.

It doesn’t matter. It’s an age old debate which really isn’t even worth debating since the two vehicles are so different. Bike = acceleration+handling through seweeping turns. Car=top speed + speed through tight corners. How can you stage an even comparison?. Throw in downforce (a-la F1 cars), something which a bike can’t achieve and a fast car will dominate any bike.

cars at the extreme are always faster…

exactly

more mechanical grip (4 tires vs 2) and more aero grip (usable downforce) means cars will always be faster

^^^^ 2nd
this is an old debate that will probably never die. they had a test on car and driver tv
a few years back when the new z06 came out. they had a car vs bike challenge
with the zo6 against an r1. with the exception of the 1\4 mile the z06 won. cars rule.
but take it from a bike man, a car will never ever give the same feeling a bike will. to me
they are just too different to compare.

peace

bikes definatly cant corner like cars, but with the power/weight ratio, the acceleration is so great on bikes, its very hard to have a car as QUICK as a bike, obviously anything can go fast top speed, and a car is way more stable, but its hard to get a car to move as quickly as a bike can…

also how many street cars do you know of with 2500 hp, maybe if you said 500 or even pushing it to 800, and now once your car is making this much power, its no longer a “street” car, its obviously a fully built race car thats being driven on the street

I know of alot of 500-800hp street cars.

Street car being a car with full interior that is drivable and can idle.

If the guy in that video knew how to drive the R1 he could have easily taken that M3. He wasn’t using the fulll gears or leaning nearly as far as that bike will go.

The road looks like devils back bone but I could be mistaken.

i dont even know of 500 cars, let alone 500 2500hp street cars. but thats besides the point, they exist and thats all that matters.

none of my argument related to numbers.

as far as im concerned if a car is plated and insured and is driving on DOT tires on the public roads - it’s a street car.

You could argue that a car like the Saleen S7 isn’t a street car if you merely say “fully built race car” because thats what it is - they just changed what they needed to change to legalize it. The street version actually makes more power than the actual LeMans version! So is this a street car or a race car? It’s legal to drive on the road - so why can’t it be considered a street car? Who cares if it idles properly or not. I wish my car couldn’t idle because of an agressive cam!

Here is a good comparison with a pro rider on a ducati 999 (rediculous bike by the way… my dream bike :frowning: )

Gallardo vs. 999

999 wins, which is expected really. For a few reasons

  1. Tiff is a great driver, but he’s still a journalist - a pro would shave a bit off of that time
  2. The gallardo is a pretty weaksauce car, just about every supercar manufacturer has a car that would eat the gallardo, whereas I doubt anyone could claim the same for the 999 vs other manufacturers - sure there are more powerful bikes but put a pro rider on them all and see what the gap is like, it is a true race bike.
