so there is this bike that has no title. is it possible to get one for the bike or do you have to find a frame that has a title?
depends y is there no title. is it lost, with a lien holder, stolen,a previous owner has it all depends
a while back, a friend bought a wrecked bike, and the owner flaked on the title… kept promising it, and promising it and never delivered. Eventually he went down to Norm’s Cycle to buy a new frame for 175, which came with a clean title… problem solved.
But I would personally seriously question why there is no title
In PA if there is no title and you can’t get the currently named title holder to file for a lost one, you generally have to get on the Court docket and basically have a hearing where you show that you’ve given notice (usually in a newspaper, though it may be 2 newspapers now) to the community about your claim as rightful owner and the judge can issue a writ that allows you to get a title in your name. It’s a hassle for sure and it’s not free by any means, so unless there’s something really special about the bike you’re probably better off going another route (finding a wrecked one with a title, etc.).
I have heard (though never looked into it personally) that some nearby states are much more lenient with getting lost titles (I’ve heard Ohio and/or Indiana). There are also professional title services that can take care of it in some cases, though I’ve heard (again no personal experience) you are looking at minimum $500 for the service.
