pretty nifty

cool i think, hard to tell what the purpose would ever be tho

hey, lets make something big, expensive, and useless.

omg its a huge iPhone

the application in a restaurant was cool in the olvder vids where you could divide the check by draging what you ordered onto your cards.

There is sooo much shit you can do with that. It could be the single most useful thing ever IF the software developers make it that way

Yea, just imagine having that on your desk. Someone walks over with a device and says “check this out…” ect. Cool stuff.

Has potential, but I’m not really sure if the current marketplace can see a purpose. But it has huge potential more towards the future once manufacturing costs go down. Could be the next step in terms of absurdly consumer friendly GUI. The potential business uses could be most excellent.

But in all reality will probably end up more like an Apple LISA.

Jeff Han did this back in Feb 2006 at TED.

Its alot more than a touch screen but heres jeff with his input.

are you kidding? i could think of a million uses.

think of it as a coffee table computer that could control your whole house, or larger and as a conference table. it would be stupid easy to share/update ideas and documents that need to be used by more than 1 user.

edit:
shit, even the vid in robs post (didnt click that link before) says its the coolest coffee table money can buy

very cool  Jeff Han is quoted in the article, talking about the Surface

im not saying that I couldn’t put it to use, but mainstream america, and what i would guess the cost to be… i can’t picture a market for it

don’t get me wrong im all about cool gui shit, in fact its highest on my list in terms of OS’s, thats why i love vista so much despite all of its flaws

Too bad its going to be madd expensive and useless for a long time…

Get some good software designed for the thing, and get them down to a few thousand, ill take one.

bet it’ll be great in the medical field for digital xrays and such

$5-10k huh?

I was going to get a wii60, but I’ve changed my mind.

there is a place in/near rochester that takes new
phillips plasma TV’s and adds a capacitive screen and makes them into
big touchscreen monitors… cant remember teh name though.

oh certainly it is expensive, but so were the first PC’s, and the first big screen tvs, and then the flat panels… but it all comes down in price.
hell, the wooden coffee table the old lady and i bought was well over 1 g, and all i can do is set my electronics on it. if this comes down to about 2-3k, i could totally see it in homes.
