I did a search and didn’t notice this topic being brought up before. Apparently there is a “random” company prospecting to purchase the Buffalo Bills and move them to LA along with some other teams. Anyone hear anything about this?
Good
lol.
not gonna happen…they have been trying to get a team to LA for years now.
if its anybody…it will be the jags.
X2
because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home regions.
Don’t the Bills already have one of the larger venues?
Newer or Nicer, I could understand but not larger.
Unless they think they are going to beat the Cowboys and Jerry’s land at 80k
If this was a reason for moving wouldn’t the Lions be on the list most of their games are blacked out and they downsized their stadium.
Ford Field 65,000
Jacksonville Municipal Stadium 76,867
Ralph Wilson Stadium 73,967
This reminds me. Last night at the Sabres game the guy behind us was talking about Bill Cowher no longer possibly becoming the coach of the bills. He was surprised that he wouldn’t want to coach again. Of course like so many Bills fans he completely ignored the fact that the Bills are horrible and maybe he just doesn’t want to coach a horrible team. I lol’d.
here are a few good points that will prove they will not be going anywhere:
There are several venues in the league that are weaker in terms of fan base, attendance, and media market than Buffalo.
-If you measure the actual viewership of the Buffalo TV market, including the Canadian suburbs and contiguous Canadian cities, Buffalo would be considered a large market team. In fact, the Toronto-Buffalo-Rochester mega-region is the fourth largest such region in North America, trailing only New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
-Unlike many larger cities, Buffalo, due to its uniqueness, has a passionate contingent of expats all over the country*. The Bills are among the top teams in terms of viewership of nationally televised games and also in terms of satellite viewership*.
(Similarly, the number of Bills fans nationally is among the top in the league)*.
-The Bills continue to sell out* one of the largest stadiums in the league (Ralph Wilson Stadium) without a single playoff appearance in the last 10 years.
Good riddance…
the bills definitely do not have ANY trouble with selling seats and making money with merchandise.
The bills aren’t going anywhere until Ralph dies. When he does someone will buy them and keep them here in exchange for a ton of tax breaks and concessions and a downtown stadium. If I was drunk I’d argue that by 2020 the Bills will be playing in Bass Pro stadium on the waterfront. :mamoru:
Hell, I’d probably back that point sober :biglaugh:
IIRC there were seven teams on their “list”.
links to source of “facts”?
What about playing in niagara county?
wow, you sounded like mr. phD marketer there! where did you copy/paste that from
I like this part, this guy know nothing about the Bills.
‘‘I wouldn’t worry too much about it just yet, Bills and Jags fans. Of course, it probably wouldn’t hurt to start, you know, filling your stadium, either.’’
The Bills have budgets figured out and contracts signed/started to upgrade the complex and stadium through 2011. They are not going anywhere before then.
i’m going to predict and say NO team is going to move to LAX… why you say?
well, the NFL has this thing called the expansion fee… team has to pay X amount of dollars to the NFL… the last expansion team (Houston Texans) paid $700M… you don’t think the NFL would rather have a NEW team in LAX, rather than have a team move?
When I lived in hamburg, I would argue that I hoped they would move.
Since stadium traffic is no longer a concern of mine, I will simply say that I don’t care.
While it’d be great to think that “sports talk” around the office would decrease, it probably wouldn’t.
I hate hearing people talk about sports.
Oh well I haven’t watched football in so many years.
^ Then it will be worse you’ll just hear the same bills stories over and over. It will be like groundhog day.
