Black & Blue

I went to B&B for dinner about a week ago. It was pretty busy, but we were sat within a minute or two. The first thing that i noticed was how noisy it was on the inside. There definitely needs to be some more sound deadening as my ears started ringing.

The bread came out very quickly and was piping hot. They have this pretzel bread in there that is awesome, I ate both pieces before the girlfriend could

Our salads came out next, I had the ceaser and so did Mary. They use cornbread for the croûtons which I thought was odd but extremely delicious.

I ordered a maccalan as I had wanted to try it for a while. Too many rocks in the glass and I had to scoop some out.

Mary and I both ordered the 8oz filet. Mine was medium rare and hers medium. They both came out perfectly cooked and at the same time.

My side was the orzo mac and cheese. Which is FUCKING AWESOME! I almost ordered more just to take home.

My second scotch was my old favorite:Oban. Oban always says the same things to me and I always feel better afterwards

Mary ordered a martini of some sort.

We were both way too full for a dessert. Total bill came to 103 dollars. I would go back but next time I probably wont order scotch as it is ridiculously overpriced at 12 for the maccalan and 14 for the oban.

All in all it is a great restaraunt with an intelligent staff. I will be back.

I just went there last night for a company event…

I thought it wasn’t so great… essentially I’d call it a nicer looking Fridays with higher prices. the staff try to be helpful but are uneducated in high end dining. the food was ok, but not even close to the best steak out there.

you get what you pay for, and with black and blue, you pay for a high end atmosphere but not high end food I guess.

Worst place to eat, ever. ^The Blue just posted all of the points I will reiterate below…

The moment we sit down, you think “high class place, gonna have awesome service”

I get a caesar salad everywhere I go, and it was disgusting. I didnt even eat it. Melissa, my girlfriend, also got one and she felt the same.

The waiter must have worked at Dennys before starting here. No manners, acted nervous and annoying. No class AT ALL! Didnt treat us like we were paying $120 for dinner. Same goes for the manager. We complained about the salads and he came over with an attitude like it was our fault, instead of just saying “I’m sorry Sir, let me take those away.” as he should at a place like that.

I ordered a martini, and there was ice floating in it! I thought “Are they kidding?”

Then, our steaks come out burned. We asked for medium rare. These were literally medium well, way past medium… and he didnt even take em off the bill. They also took FOREVER.

I have been to a lot of expensive places to eat, and I will never go back there. Its a joke.

BTW: This was the Buffalo location. Do NOT bring a date there for a special occasion. You will not have a happy girlfriend, and you will want to burn the place down.

Agreed 100%

Pittsford > Wherever the Buffalo one is

Another place worth mentioning for Rochester is the Peter Geyer Steakhouse, I’m not sure if anyone here has been there though.

theblue went to the Pittsford one, for what it’s worth… and I agree with him. I went when it first opened and my impression was pretty similar.

Went with my wide, my sister and her husband tonight. Had an 8:30 reservation. The place was packed. It’s beautiful inside, the service was great, and the pricing wasn’t bad.

Waitress was very attentive, personable, and quick. Her assistants were there to clean off the plates quickly, refill drinks or water without us asking, and they were all very professional.

The entrees and sides were good, but if you are going to talk steak, I give this a 2nd place to Fiamma, but putting it ahead of Buffalo Chop House.

I’d go back again. I’d just make sure I had a reservation earlier in advance.

Lots of eye candy girls that worked there, but most guys will go there with a date. But a ton of old guys there, with younger women. Was kinda like the place where johns being there escorts for a good dinner.

Bump this bitch. Going to the one in Buffalo. Will provide a review tomorrow.

I have a dinner there with Palm in early June.

I had a customer lunch there earlier in the year at the Sheridan location. It was decent steak but if I was paying, I can think of a number of cheaper places that are just as good or better.

I was told it has great food, and a very high class dining area, but the staff belongs at an Applebee’s.

My friend raved about his steak at the one in Rochester.

I would’ve said Denny’s, but whatever. Don’t go.

Went here on Friday and I can’t say anything but good things about the place. The atmosphere was great and so was the decor. Personally I loved the service but think I lucked out. The waitress was very knowledgeable and very polite, she was very quick with answer to our questions and didn’t provide any BS. The old miserable couple next to us got a waiter that clearly had no idea what he was talking about, which made them even more miserable.

On to the food. We had the shrimp bisque and she-crap soup for starters. Both were excellent. I had the filet with a potato side and the gf had the strip with a mushroom side. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. I like the choice of sauces to coat the steak. Honestly they didn’t need any sauce but using them did provide a different taste that was equally as good. For dessert we had the white chocolate citrus cheesecake which was orgasmic.

Everything was very well put together and the atmosphere was perfect. The courses were separated to the point where you had time to relax but didn’t get to the point of guessing where your food was. Total bill was 150 bones including tip and a half bottle of wine.

I would recommend this place to anyone, but would also say getting a knowledgeable person to serve you would be hit or miss.

isnt that what the gays say?
:gay2:

That’s because my brother cooked it.

:gtfo:

Peter Geyger is awesome, black and blue is meh… i’ve eaten there a few times, not worth the price…

high end joints in rochester is water street or peter geyger, maybe rio if you like italian…

Okay…

:blah:. I was giving an opinion based on MY dining experience, which was great.

To expand on that John, the old people were bitching that the menu consisted of mostly seafood and steaks. It was a funny battle to see a retarded waiter trying to service retarded customers.
