When i boost my gauge reads fine…but when i get to about 4 thou
rpm it seems like i start loosing power…and when i blow off you cant really hear it at all and you can hear the turbo a tiny bit…like when its spooling up and a tiiiiny but when i let
off the throttle…could this mean a blown turbo? or just sum easy fix…anyone know what this could be? thanks
Does the boost drop at 4000rpm on the gauge?
nope stays steady at 7psi
what kind of gauge do you have? i had a mechanical autometer boost gauge, and all it did was fuck with me… i now have autometer hate… just something to consider.
Might be a boost leak or bad turbo. The guage will have nothing to do with power loss.
Wow man it sounds like you have been having some major problems with your 240. Every week you have a new problem to post. But anyways it sounds like a boost leak to me… are you hearing anything unusual when your turbo is spooling?
i know always a stupid little problem here and there…and yes there is a unusual sound
when my turbo is spooling it sounds like its sucking in air or sumthing like a really loud
wooshing sound when im boosting…if i have the windows open i can hear the sound
come from the right side of the engine bay…could it be my bov? cuz thats where it
sounds like its coming from…but it also just could be in that area
Turbos do suck in air so that sound your hear is normal…maybe you just need a new turbo…The Impeller bearing shafts go all time on Nissan/garret turbos.
no i can hear that sound…but thhis sound is way louder and didnt do it before…
im pretty sure it not a blown turbo…but a boost leak…i just dont know how to find it
Hopefully i can save you some ridicule here before the other guys just post pics of the “search” button.
I have no idea what car is yours from your sig but if you are lucky enough to have the one with the fmic, its easy. Trace all the intercooler pipes (most likely a connection), including the turbo inlet for leaks. Make sure the car is running, you will here them. Its as easy as that.
If you have a smic its a lot more time consuming but the same idea.
Vaccum lines can also give you a boost leak, but you said its really loud so its probably an intercooler pipe/connection. Let me guess, just up’d the boost?
no its bin at 7psi since i got it and yea its the one with the fmic…i had problems
with the piping coming apart from the coupler but i cheack the couplers and i dont see anything. i havent looked at them while the car is runing to hear sounds…ill do that now lol
leaking boost from the BOV is my guess Bob
im pretty sure i figured out what the problem is…the coupler hooked up on the right side
had a crack in it…so im gonna replace that tomorow and hopefuly everything will be
back to normal :E
my gts had two cracked couplers very cheap fix…good luck to you
X2
buddy of mine has a Autometer boost gauge that hasn’t worked properly right from new
$30 for 1 coupler! lol but car runs good now…just tiny exhaust leak to fix and i
should be good…thanks for the help guys…and i got an autometer boost gauge…
i hope it dosent mess up on me
