Blue Ceffy, Blown Turbo

I’m sure most members on here remember the blue autech cefiro that Christian sold to a young guy by the name of Dan. Anyways, after a few months months of … being driven by a 17yr old, the turbo crapped out.
I wonder if it was the fact that its a 16 year old car, or that it was doing in excess of 200 on the highway for an extended period of time when the turbo blew :nono (from what I’ve heard).

Anyway, he picked up a used turbo from autodream and I replaced it for him. Check out his old turbine wheel, or lack of…

For those that care about the well-being of this car, I sold him a 300zx for the winter so the Cefiro is now parked for the winter, safe and sound.

There is definenty a lack of turbine there…Weird.

o_O Where did the parts of the turbine go?

B-Wurm

Stock turbo’s are ceramic wheeled so they have a tendancy to go shooting out the exhuast.

It probably didn’t help either that he drove it with a blown turbine wheel for about 2 weeks :hit

once its gone though its really gone…

damn that isnt good to hear …but I am loving cefiros lately so good luck with that new turbo and glad you kept him from driving it throguh the winter so something worse didnt happen

That car needs some work yet IMO. I sure as hell wouldn’t have driven it in its current condition. One of the rear brake rotors is cracked from the previous owner.

Didnt he get a new caliper from the previous owner to replace it rather than driving on a seized caliper and ruining a rotor ?

That ceffy needs a bigger turbo:) you replace it with RB20 turbo or RB25?

^^^skyline gt-s turbo. Compressor housing looked larger on the cefiro turbo. Did the autech have a larger turbo?

No, he bought it with the siezed caliper and cracked rotor, but he didn’t know at the time. I think he should have tried to get money to fix it but he didn’t.

I gave him a spare used Cefiro caliper to replace it with. He drove that car alot right after he bought it, I suspect he never replaced the caliper and overheated the rotors. It would’ve failed OOP if the rotor was cracked.

As far as I know he eventually did replace it, but now the replacement leaks brake fluid pretty bad. I think he is going to buy all new rotors and calipers soon, but i don’t know. I rarely talk to the kid.

ahh i loved that car

but that has to be my worst nightmare, seeing how i have already gone through everything else. just driving and the exhaust wheel goes ting tin ting down you exhaust and shots out the back

All the Nissan and Toyota ceramic wheeled turbos suck for high boost. The wheel will delaminate and fall off.

get a mitsu turbo instead of a garrett
