Blurring License Plates

I thought getting information from a license plate didn’t require any real hard work? Like people can run your plates to send you a bill for parking if you don’t pay it (i mean private places as well, not just ones owned by the gov.) …

Why show personal information if you don’t have too?

And why make a key? It’s not like stealing a car is hard. Most thefts are actually tow jobs anyway. No one thinks a car being towed is suspicious.[/quote]

That’s why backing in is adviced for us. If you don’t do it I suggest you do. Works best when there is no access to the back of your car. Not steal proof but more time consuming.

dont you think tow trucks have not thought of this, they use rollers which they can put on the rear wheels of your car and have it rolling around in a few seconds.

Thats why I said not steal proof but more time consuming than a normal tow to jack your car.

incase you didnt know you can tow the front of the car too, regardless of the lowness, if they know what their doing its very easy. usually preferd since the front bumper dosent demolish on the pavement.

Does that also work for OLDER Nissans such as S12s, S13s, S14s?

After reading that story about the VW in the parking garage that got towed by getting keys cut by the VIN, because of a bank error, I’m glad my vin is covered.

We get keys made form BMW’s, Bens any car at work. I work at a car auction so some times repo cars come though and we just give them the vin and boom we go the keys. But my manager has to pick them up in person fill out alot of paperwork. The bank and leasing company has to give an ok…
But basicly if you konw some one you have keys.

could just switch ignition from a parts car

Or just hot wire it.

Installing my alarm on Thursday, I realized just how easy it is to hotwire our cars… its a joke.

Its so easy to get to the ignition cylinder, and the wires are easily
exposed.

unless they are using a flatbed i dont see how this could be done. E-Brake? Car in gear?

Ever watch repo men?

They just pull it along with the wheels locked, as far as they need to… then hook it up on the other side.

Thieves could also use a dolly if they need to.

They just hook your shit to a winch at the back of the flat bed, and haul it into the open where they can load it up.

Best bet is to get boomerang so you know where your car is if its stolen,
but even thats not foolproof.

even if someone wanted to hotwire a 240, wouldnt the steering column lock prevent them from driving it?

Smash it.

I don’t like my license plates showing because with the right connections you could find out the person address. So if you have a picture of a nice car on the internet and a thief wants it, they can find your address, then come to your house, check your VIN and with the right connections get a key cut for your car. It’s that simple.
