^agreed
look how many fast nova’s are out there compared to BMW’s. i cant see you getting 4k for an OBD2 roller these days. I’d put the money into making the BMW stronger.
this is not just any nova. its called notorious and was built by rad rides by troy.
it was at the toronto performance auto show it is f’ing amazing. the detail on this car is amazing. one of my favorite cars to ever be built. google rad rides by troy they have a big write up on their site, but you cant appreciate it unless you see it in person.
I’d vote NOVA, but w/o the bmw drivetrain. there was a 78 nova 8cyl on craigslist a few weeks ago for $1200.
barf, if i could have it my way i would get like a 67 nova or such. i still like the style of the 71 but then you get to the mid 70’s and its all sorts of ugly imho.
there is NO cheap solution to make the bmw rear stronger. The whole independant rear is just horrible for drag racing. IDK i guess i was just looking for an excuse to get into a nova. lol I dont see a point in building a sbc/bbc when i can attach a snail to a semi stock bmw motor and make 6-700whp on the cheap.
Ditch the IRS then, I’m pretty sure I have seen some sort of BMW with a ford 9"
I still vote for the nova though
Nova’s came with straight 6’s so this wouldnt be too far off. the bmw tranny is solid. i have yet to actually blow one up and with the reduced nova weight it will only get better. add in a strong 1piece DS and a spool in the 8.5 open rear and beat the snot outta it till the rear pops then go 12bolt.
500 bucs into suspension mods then go wheels up? lol maybe not. i think reality is kicking in that noone would want a roller obd2 328. i would almost be better throwing a motor in the bmw and selling it that way.
this and this
MKIV Supra rear end!
Nova
Then sell it to me complete for 6k
If you are going to go nova, I’d say part out and sell the BMW outright, and pick up the Nova to begin with.
Nova + LSx = drag monster??
Or sell the BMW as is then buy a nova and BMW motorset separate and start fresh. That way you aren’t sitting on the shell for who knows how long.
Wellllll, if you get a nova, atleast you wont have as much of a hard time getting that motor/manifold/etc in there.
Bmw looks way nicer though.
well, i think realisticly ill be stuck with the bmw. when my car is complete with built motor i should be able to get anywhere from 14g up for it. from a resale standpoint id never get my money back outta a nova w/bmw drivetrain. so if anything i would have to complete my 328 and then sell if i want to make the most outta my investments.
Cars are not investments.
nova, nova nova
novas are ugly but effective as drag cars. I’d say either stay all BMW or go all chevy, but don’t mix and match.
you call this ugly?
and mix and match is what we do here…
- It’s a better car. The Nova was Chevy’s econo car. They have crappy interiors, live axle leaf sprung rear suspension, drum brakes, recirculating ball steering and so on. Have fun spending money on the updates!
people will vote nova just cause that would be a sweet swap
What does any of this have to do with drag racing???
i’m amazed at all the nova votes. It kinda comes down to what you want. i’d detune the bmw and use it for a dd, then build the nove nasty like to be a toy
