Well I coughed up the cash 2 years ago and bought i forged wheels. Ran them for about three weeks and sold them at a loss… The company sucks ballz and so do the wheels…
The water gets trapped in the channel that is on every reversed lip wheel. The vibration was so bad I could not even drive the car in the rain. When I bought the wheels I personally spoke to Vince who owns i forged and I was reassured I would not have this problem. Low and behold I did have the problem and when I called him his response was “our customers don’t drive their cars in the rain”…:gotme:
Do any research on any BMW or Audi forum and you will read complaint after compliant on their customer service and shitty fucking wheels.
And to set the record straight this problem is persistent on all high end revers lip wheels not just i forged. If you want a wheel that wont shake in the rain from any of these high end wheel companies you need to go with a stepped lip.
Don’t buy them they are garbage.
well, considering you have proven to me time and again that you are retarded…it comes at no surprise that you endorse these wheels.
your description of where you think the problem is shows me that you are clueless. and you build motors? eeesh
“no big deal”
for those of us that drive our car…not just look at it…driving in the rain with iforged manufactured wheels is NOT POSSIBLE. (your claim about hundreds of miles in a downpour at 100mph+ is false)
if you want to look at your car in front of O and talk about how sweet your car is, by all means by as many as you can get your hands on…shouldnt be too hard, you can get them at bargain basement prices. I WONDER WHY?
erik,
vince is a douche. a huge douche. when i talked to him the shit he said was nothing but lies. there is no way i would endorse any wheel that is designed like these. even if you have had good luck (with the wheels on your car in the garage) it is a shitty way to market a product.
My description? Would you like to drop by and I’ll show you eactly what I am talking about? If you can find another area that holds water other than the one I described, I might just give you a dollar for your time.
Its easy to call my claim false- but how about the 3 other Vipers I made the fucking trip with doing the same speed as me? Or the 40 other guys who knew I just flew down the QEW to make it to a dinner- WHERE IT WAS FUCKING POURING? Of course, you dont care about the facts, only what justifies your panty-twisted iForged Sucks rant.
I dont drive my car? LOL, yeah right and fuck you. That comment right there just proves you are in fact the retard in this particular conversation.
For that matter- ask Cougarspeed- granted it wasnt a downpour, but even he has been in my car in the rain.
Again, PROVE me wrong, on MY wheels. You know- the ones you have no experience with and I actually have? Until then, shut the fuck up, you have no first hand experience. You are simply another (small) cog in the Internet Automotive Guide printing machine that is sqeaking away because you had an issue. Well, I suppose Fuck Us who havent had issues- even though we outnumber you. No different I suppose than the other times in our lives where the minority bitches and everyone listens, ruining it for the rest.
I will certainly admit other sizes and configurations may have problems much more severe than what I have experienced, but I wasnt claiming to deal with those exact wheels either, and dont particularly give a shit about them. I have sold DOZENS of sets of iForged wheels in Viper sizes, and I have only had ONE come back for any reason, a powdercoat issue. Of course, you obviously know more about this than all of us.
We sure do drive the vipers in the rain. I mean who wouldnt right? I would like to go on record saying i did not feel any type of “vibration” lol. Some sliding yes but i dont think that was the wheels fault. BTW Dan i got pics fo proof dawg lol. HATERS
Gotta chime in and say that I have a set of 3pc. Iforged Sprints and in downpours they definitely gather water and make the car almost impossible to drive over 40 mph.
In normal rain there’s no issues at any speed.
As for quality, I can’t complain except that cleaning them is not fun whatsoever. Even though I have a couple bends I really can’t blame Iforged. That’s my fault and the lovely street conditions around WNY.
So I guess I have to agree with both Audios and FinalGTS. Both uber knowledgeable guys with their respective chassis and they both make valid points.
FWIW: Somebody bought those wheels on ebay for $1900 and that’s not too bad for the price for that type of wheel.
Good point. When you think about it, how can that not happen? If there’s a channel and you add lots of water on the road its going to gather. For how often I drive my car in heavy downpours I guess I’ll just deal with it. Its only happened to me once in a year’s time thus far.
But good point, I guess this issue isn’t just related to Iforged…which, it seems, many people dislike. I think they look great, kinda on the heavy side though.
it mainly happens with with Iforged/HRE/DPE’s, wheels that are made in the same location. BBS have to use a different manufacturing process and end up with closer tolerances. The hatred for those wheels also come from the Forging/manufacturing process used, which is not as strong as BBS/Volk/Champion… and maybe Morr.
I know Smaefer hated them, and Poopra doesn’t really have any issues with his. :gotme: Perhaps the reverse lip design on Smaefer’s has a lot to do with it.
Well the customer service still sucked as of last year not to mention the lies that came out of their mouths…
From what I have notcied the wider the wheel the less of a problem you have with the vibration from water.
I had 18x8.5 Senkas and the vibration was so bad I had to pull over for a few minutes the first time it happend. With that being said I sold them about 1 month later to a guy in Conn. and wished him luck. I was very upfront about the issue with the wheels.
IMHO the wheels do look good but that holds nothing when you can’t even drive on them in the rain, and the customer service is a joke… You would be better off with a set of Motegis from Pep Boys…
the same babys that complain about the vibration in the rain on these wheels also tend to post up crying that their performance brake pads make noise and dust… how pathetic.
