BMW Repair shop?

I just moved to Saratoga Springs about 2 months ago, does anyone know any reputable BMW specialist repair shops?
My girlfriend drives a 1983 528e and there’s a few things that need to be done on it (belts squeaking, smell a gas leak).
Any suggestions help since we don’t know the area and what’s available. I would prefer a BMW specialist, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg
cheers

Bavarian Rocket Scientists on Broadway in Albany

Ummmmm no , overpriced and not all that bright .

You can only pick one, not both

autobahn

in all honesty a gas leak and squeaky belt dont really need a BMW specialist to take care of.

Soy, read 88slowmarros signature… Sure he can help you out.

Albany Speed Shop, or Capitol Region Customs (both are sponsors of this site), could do it, somewhat cheaply, and most certainly the right way.
and for customer reviews just ask. probably %80 of the active users of this site have had work done by one or the other. i dont think anyone has had anything bad to say.

If you’re looking for a “specialist” I would recommend Autobahn for non-dealer work. Avoid BRS like the plague, many of my Porsche customers have come about because of their poor work.

The work you’re suggestiong does not require special tooling and could be completed by a competant mechanic who knows their way around a car. A few of such have been suggested here by other members.

+1 to Autobahn. These guys do top notch work!

Theres a place in Ballston Spa that works on German cars and a place on Caroline st in Saratoga right next to Deandre’s pizza. Ive never had any work done at either but know people that have and have only heard good things.

Just got the 2 names

Union coachworks
Quality foreign auto care

and while your waiting for your car at union, you can get the best pizza in 100 miles right next door.

Thanks for all the input I’ll check them out. I know that this work is pretty generic and doesn’t need a specialist and I agree but I’d rather go to the same place that will be able to fix anything that could happen in the future, it’s nice to take your car to someone who has familiarized themselves with it

Dealer.

+1 Dealers aren’t always the cheapest but they are almost always the most knowledgeable and thorough on one specific make of car. Especially higher end cars like BMW and Mercedes where the dealer really works to take care of the customer and address their complaints.

I would recommend autobahn. They have done great work for me in the past.

Since when is.a 83 BMW a high end car ??? Dealers are a joke . If there so good why did we find a evap problem when the dealer charged customer 3k for shit they didn’t need and still not fix it ?

There’s more than one car dealership in the area, and more than one tech that works in each of those dealerships.

You’re right, because one dealer mishandled one issue on one car all dealers for all issues are a joke.

Just because it’s an '83 doesn’t change what I said about the higher end dealers treating customers better, it’s still a BMW going to a BMW dealer.

If you can’t work on an '83 BMW, you don’t deserve to own a shop.
