BMW water pump replacement; looking for parts and tech contact

'06 BMW 330i showing the signs of the inevitable water pump and thermostat replacement. Last night the red overheating light came on, however the car never went into limp mode like many cars have done, and I made it home safely. I’d prefer to find a BMW tech (or an independent shop) capable of this repair. I’ve considered doing it myself, however I would like to stay out of the garage right now. Also want to stay away from the dealer and their rates.

On the contrary, anyone dealt with this fix as a DIY? Where did you track parts down from? Reading up on it it looks rather straight forward.

Edit: I’ve reached out to Goff and Bracketracer, waiting on replies from them.

I used this one

I would suggest doing your oil filter housing gasket at this time as well

I’ve done it many times. It’s really not bad to do. I’ll PM you a quote.

Yep, that’s the same thread I found, nice write up. Did you snag parts locally?

you drove home with the red overheat light on?

not the smartest thing to do…

pelicanparts.com is where I went for replacement parts.

From when the red light first came on I was 4 miles from home. I pulled off the road immediately, then the red went back to yellow and stayed in the yellow. After a few miles red came back on, pulled over again and shut the car off. 5 minutes later started back up, was 1/2 mile from home at this point and all lights went off and my heat returned from the vents. The car never went into limp mode, the fans weren’t going crazy. This all happened quite quickly, and over a very short period of time. I’m not dumb enough to just keep driving with the red light in my face

Coolant reservoir is very low, fluid definitely escaped from here as there’s splashes of coolant around the tank:(

Both are 1 day shipping if they have the items in stock. Lately I’ve found ECS to be a bit more reliable.

It’s an easy job, though I totally understand wanting to stay out of the garage.

I’ve grown to really like ECS tuning. I just got a message from Justin at Swiderski, he offered a nice rate to fix it, using BMW parts. Most likely the route I’ll take.

Good deal, great guy!
